In my case, more like the one from Twilight Princess with some civilization going on.

This is delightful.

Tossed the idea around a bit and decided that NPC's also deserved three frames of movement.
Three frames really doesn't take any more time to make than it would to make two frames.
Plus I've already had their walk-y script all written up and readied.

Oh, that's right...I need to make maptiles...

Ahh, I can sort of tell/remember what's supposed to be there.
I think I can afford to work on other content and then come back to the tiles later.

I've been trying this new approach to spriting enemies where I imagine that I understand how lighting works on objects.

It is sort of working, so ok!

[edit: Extra OK]

Hooray!

Implemented the new guy's bunch of Special abilities.

This now leaves:

The enemy's ability to target things (They only hit the guy in the first slot right now)

A way to end the battle after defeating all the enemies.

Oh, well those weren't too bad [save the temporary breaking of the entire system].

The base for the battle system is actually pretty much done (For real this time!).

Streak ended the moment it started.
A month later, I made maptiles!

I think I did a pretty good job with it so far

Detail on the wallpaper is very meticulously crafted.

They read like TVs. Another hint is the fact that the one further back has no picture on it.

I didn't think to use a picture frame for reference, so I imagined that rich people used marble frames for their pictures.

The ones in the back are place-holder templates, but until I figure out what I actually want to put in them, they could very well be magic-based image boxes.

Heh, great wallpaper.

Just one nitpick: the string on which that picture frame is hanging looks a bit weird. Pictures that massive don't hang on strings like that.

Memes that include dead people are as inert as the dragonballs are.

But not the maptile work I see in that screenshot. Good work!

So most everyone's been making considerable progress on their projects and even releasing demos(!).

If they can do that much, I can at least spend an hour a day on this.

Today was very good.
I decided to finally figure out what I was doing when I wrote the battle script (it's a horrible mess and I wish I could redo it, but oh well) and managed to make formation-editing very easy and painless (This here's important!).

Also, made a sprite of a jerk.

With the base of the combat system kind of ready, I tried finding a way to spice up battles a bit and decided to stick with a combo system.

In essence, each attack will boost the each hero's individual counter.
At certain levels, the combo count would enhance the effects of every following attack/maneuver/spell whether by increased damage or special effects.

I pretty much want the pace of battle to explode something something like:
Code:

        :
        :
       ::
     .:::
...::::::
-------->

(Note that I could have just said "exponentially")

So far, I have gotten the combo counter variables set up and the display to show up after each successful attack.

Have had little luck destroying the battle engine.
Hoping for similar fortune in sessions to come.
