I've planned on making it a round floating "island" of tiles.

There are going to be more areas ( four ) and I'm going to spread them
evenly so there is equal "plain" area as opposed to the attractive area.

I'm not so much for adding stars, but I will extend the edge out to get rid
of the "blank" look. If that's what you mean by adding the stars

The graphics are just concept work, but this is the idea of what I mean...

That's an improvement. I still think the empty space needs something--maybe some trippy animations like in Earthbound's battles? (I still like the idea of stars or something spacey)

Nevertheless, it looks a lot better now to me.

I've been working hard recently, and I expect a demo should be done by
at LEAST May.

Can anyone point me out a good music composition system?
I don't much care the format, so long as the system
is free.

I use Anvil Studio, which isn't bad, but honestly I haven't heard of any truly intuitive music composition program. If you think about it, it probably isn't possible. Music has so many dimensions to it (pitch of note, length of note, volume of note, number of notes being played at a given time, and all of this is just for one 'instrument' at a time), and there is so much variance allowed in each of these aspects.

Thanks, msw.

I am way ahead in development on Sapphire Flames, Progress on Beasts (previously called "Element" ) is going to be slowed down-almost stopped. I'm going to shift Sapphire Flames into being my main project, once I
finish it, I can come back to Beasts with more experience behind my belt and more time.

My next version of Sapphire Flames will be posted May 1st, and updated weekly every sunday.

Any questions?

Sapphire Flames V2 is now downloadable, it doesn't have much more stuff
than V1, but V3 will host some solid gameplay.

you should include the .SDLs so people without the OHR can play.

I feel as if I've been skipping pages in my book, my first project on the OHR
was Sapphire Flames and my plans for that game lead towards much more than I think I have the experience to accomplish, I feel the same about my other games.

I'm going to scrap my current work, and start anew on a much more
straight-forward game.

I may come back to these projects when I feel I have the experience necessary.
