Hm. While I've got an LJ already, the game journals could be kind of cool. I bet you could do some neat Transylvania-esque stuff with those.

In all honesty, the reason behind building the journal system had nothing to do with LJ at all. I've never used the system and never plan on signing up.

There was a cry for General Discussion and I had no intention of opening up and attempting to moderate another Paradox Lounge type board. I also wanted to take the focus away from the forum. At the same time, I couldn't justify writing a journal system just so users could engage in General Discussion.

Given that games are constantly evolving over time, and user sigs are increasing in lenght, I could justify (to myself when programming, of course) a journaling system where users could make updates regarding their games and recieve feedback without CP's review process slowing things down.

Since I was going to spending so much time and effor building thi s system, I might as well throw in the user journals. I'm not expecting heavy use...Live Journal has a fully customizable system residing on a much more stable server coded specifically for journals.

The users are in control of this aspect of the site. I think individual journals makes for a better system than the forum, however the need for on topic discussions in a moderated area makes the forum invaluable. Don't be suprised if you start seeing locked threads with the tag line "Move it to your journal", though.

Since I mainly used my LJ for CP stuff and my intended audience was the CP community (and I wasn't too popular either), I might just stick with this system now. I don't have time for both, afterall.

Please explain this "game journal" thing and how you can do some cool "Transyvania-esque" stuff with it..?

Yeah, this will probably be a great substitute for the general discussion forums. It should make moderation much simpler. Good idea!

EDIT: Or maybe it's not a good idea. Some people are massive tards and probably shouldn't have the freedom these journals offer.

And Leroy, each game entry gets its own journal. If you don't know what I mean by "Transylvania-esque" stuff, you need to play Gilbert's game "Bastard.GUNS Transylvania." Or instead, play "Bastard.GUNS Thanatropolis." That one is a lot easier and shorter. Basically the games refer you to livejournal accounts that contain information needed to progress in the game. The game journals on this site could possibly be used for the same effect.
