Particularly, not here.
So, if you're wondering why I don't make games anymore, I've got a bitch-computer that won't run DOS, and haven't quite convinced myself to make these two ideas I've got knocking about my head in Sphere.
Meantime, there's Where Gods And Mortals Dance, my pet project gone comic. I'm about halfway through chapter one, so I'd say it's going nicely.
Just figured I'd give you hooligans a rundown of What's Going On. |

The color schemes severely harm your awesome avatar.
Also, please post more, I hate being one of the only people here who can tell when someone's being stupid. |

It's what I get for only using one color.
And, yes, I've been tempted to jump back in mix it up with these goons here for a while. I think I just might. |

| Also, have you tried using DOSBOX? It's not very good for emulating Custom.exe, but it can at least play most OHR games fine if you're still interested in reviewing. |

| Yes, I have. It's unbearably slow, so I only use it for things I really want to see, and always non-games. I don't even want to think what playing a game would be like on it. |

CTRL-F7 Decrease frameskip.
CTRL-F8 Increase frameskip.
CTRL-F11 Slow down emulation (Decrease DOSBox Cycles).
CTRL-F12 Speed up emulation (Increase DOSBox Cycles).
Mess around with these for a while. It was unbearably slow for me too for the longest time until I started mashing ctrl-F12 until it became perfect. |

| I've F8'd and F12'd as high as it would go, and it's still pretty bad. I bet the fact that I have a third of the recommended RAM to run Windows XP doesn't help. |

| If I find extra RAM lying around (I have before), it is yours. |

Do you have any empty space on your hard drive? If you do, you could just increase the amount of virtual memory you have. _________________ Locked

I've got a fairly decent PC of which the motherboard's gone to hell, so I've got about a gig of memory just collecting dust in my room. Tell me what kind of RAM your computer takes, because if it's compatible, I'll sell it to you so cheap your head will pop off. _________________ You got film in my video game!

SD-RAM. I had a 512 DDR stick from my other computer, but my computer is too ghetto to accept it. It's got two 64mb sticks right now that I am looking to replace soon's my first paycheck comes in.
And I was never quite aware of how to change virtual memory, but I've got a 120gb hard drive that I'm using maybe a tenth of and could very well allocate those immense riches in space to better uses. |

Just open Windows help and search for virtual memory. If WinXP's help file isn't as helpful as Win2000's, virtual memory should be in Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Performance Options. _________________ Locked

So here's a funny thing. I raised my virtual memory to 2-4gb but didn't notice any real difference. Tried DOSBOX, F12ing all the way to 10000 (or was it 100000, i don't remember, but it was a tenth of what i ran it at before). Anyway, it turned out being even slower than before, so on a whim I F11'd it down to 200 and the speed was basically perfect and the music didn't skip anymore.
Really, all I'm saying is I'm back bitches.
Expect a review by the end of the week. |
