Alright, Oookay...
sorry bout this...
my problem(one of them)is that after creating a .hsi file...writing a v.basic text box script, compile it,put it in game etc,no text appears in the box, though the box is there.

include, plotscr.hsd
include, dark.hsi

define script (1,welcome traveller,none)

script, welcome traveller, begin
show text box (1)
wait for text box
end

p.s.thx for the reply but adding wait for text box doesnt solve the missing text?

Is there text in the box in Custom? You might have started on text box #2 in the editor. Double-check that and tell us what happens.

Aha!
I knew you couldn't stay away for long, JSH!

And Tp, don't create a new thread for each of your posts. Just reply to your old threads.

thx JSH357...in the editer its set to text box 1(in the edit text box menu),i can read text if i type it directly into the box then go back and look at it,but i am putting the "lalala traveller" text script into the special game scripts...new game option after compiling it with hssed,i'v heard the special game scripts buggy(or was),anyway,i doubt its the reason,is there another option i have to 'turn on' in 'EDIT TEXT BOX' like the next script line!?!?
(lost)...THX

Weird. Try using text box #2 instead and seeing what happens. I think you're not supposed to use text box #0, but I'm not sure about #1.

Can you post the number of the text box that contains the text, the code that's being used to call the text box, and the list of the conditionals for that text box.

Another thing you might try is adding the command "show value(0)" right before the end statement in your script. If, after you spacebar past the textbox, the number 0 doesn't appear in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, we'll know the script isn't being called properly.

THX for the reply...

include,plotscr.hsd
include,tp.hsi

define script(1,work bastard,none)

script,work bastard,begin
show text box(1)
wait for text box
show value(0)
end

...........I'm putting the code into the special scripts 'new game' script,
all of the text box 1 conditionals are on 'never do the following' settings
@ the '0' in 'show value' appeared in the bottom left corner, the text box was empty as usual...thx again for your help...

please post a copy of your RPG file. You may have found a bug of some kind. I want to see if I can reproduce this problem on my own computer.

Now that you've created a game entry, in the upper left hand corner of your screen click on "Edit Games". This will bring up a table view of your game entries. From there, click on "no text rpg file." On the following page, click Submit without making any changes. This will bring up the Upload Game page. Click "Browse" and select the .zip you wish to upload. Once you've selected your .zip file, click Upload. After uploading is finished, the game can be found here: http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=786
