OK, I can understand why we've locked a few threads and are angry at Giz, but for some reason I have a different perspective on this matter. You can take it for what it is.
I do think that we should discourage post count threads (Neverending story, anyone?) and encourage meaningful discussion on this forum, but seriously, sometimes I come here just wanting to READ SOME POSTS. They don't all have to be Einstein material. I'd rather there be a few stupid posts than none at all when I visit this page. The mods rarely visit the site, but the only time we ever know they are present is when a thread gets locked. What's with that? Are they just discouraging posting? Do they care about any other duties?

Read my lips: No new stupid threads. I'll probably keep posting in the Neverending Story thread, but, it's on Story Time, where arguably not a whole hell of a lot else ever happened. It's stupid, sure, but nobody's forcing you to read it. The announcements forum, now, that was a pretty out of line, but I was mostly just trying to get people talking.
As for this drama with Fyre, I think his tone was sort of trying to hog Chenzi's glory. But we all from time to time step on somebody else's toes, try to overshine their achievements, and I can forgive him for that.
And, not to be derogatory, but everyone complains about the stupid thread, and asks for more serious ones, yet very very few of you actually start said threads. This is an internet forum, for crying out loud. If you're not posting, what the heck are you doing? Everybody get involved. |

Yeah, I do agree with this. Posting more is definitely a good thing.
And even if the neverending story threads kind of annoy me, they seem like a good place for new members to get involved. I've seen a few people who had their first posts (or nearly first) in there, and have stuck around.

Yeah, but the thing is they're sticking around playing the neverending story game on every other thread. Are we really desparate for new members around here? |

I saw nothing wrong with giz's recent posts. It was entertaining; even the responses were entertaining. Always sticking to business will do nothing but produce a cold place to post. Joke around a little, it's good for ya.
