From now till I get tired of it, I will be digging through the game list for the buried gems, or games so bad you will smother your grandmother if it means making it stop.

If you have a game that you think needs a review, post it here. It can be any game, from any time, person or contest. Expect a week for the review to be finished and posted.

Ok, I'll get on those. Currently I'm playing Eight Granasties, so expect a review soon. Freind, I owe you a BO review from when it was released. I got to wrapped up in the game to review it. The others will get their turn soon.

I will admit, even I'm a little bit surprised at the A. I appreciate it and all, but I think a B- or so is a bit more fair of a grade. Not that I don't think a game that took two hours to make SHOULDN'T get an A, but because I think there's a few things I could've fixed to really give it an A, but decided against to try and release more games for the contest.

I am big fan of keeping things simple. I gave OHR Paint an A because:

A) its simple and easy

B) It does exactly what its supposed to, as outlined by the description. Inacuracies are annoying, misleading and frustrating. A game/program that behaves in the way outlined is a good thing, givng the user no nasty surprises or setting them up for disapointment

C) I was feeling rather generous that day

D) It creates someting that can be shared among the community, other than flames or bragging.

That is my reasoning, as well as the other things outlined in the review. Just remember, my opinion =/= Your opinion. If you disagree, go ahead and write your own review. I won't stop you, in fact I encourage you.

With that out of the way...

The Eight Granasties review is complete. Expect it up in the next day or two.

I know you're entitled to your own opinion, but since the journals are the place for talking about shit, I gotta ask...

Your grade gives OHR Paint the same score that titles like Sword of Jade and Fantasy Under a Blue Moon X currently have. Are you seriously suggesting it is of the same caliber? I realize they aren't really in the same "genre", but is it even the best painting program possible? Given that the pixel size it enforces is 20 x 20, it is almost impossible to create something recognizable with it, let alone something attractive.

I don't mean to rag on Giz's program here. I think it's a neat experiment. And, I think the positive points you raise about it are true. But an A? That just blows my mind apart.

Camdog brings up an excellent point. It should be given an A+, or SoJ should be reduced to a B+. I shall not have my game, nor White Owl and JSH's insulted in this manner.

This is why we have game ratings. Review scores can be pretty meaningless, this is an excellent example (it really annoys me to be honest). If you disagree but don't want write a whole review, you can just rate the game. Reviews count 4 or 5 times as much to the final grade than a rating, I believe. OHR Paint is sitting on an A- average.
