I've updated the game so that it has a definite beginning, middle, and end; you can now play all the way to returning Princess Gwen to the castle. There are probably a few other things that need to be done, but I can work on those later.

I took a couple of other screenshots, but I forgot to add them to my flash drive.

Also, I replaced the THIS IS ME cube with an enemy called the Phantom Feline.

And I added a title screen.

I've made a few minor equipment tweaks. The most noticable is the fact that the bland item descriptions for equipment have been replaced with their stat effects. I've also added a handful of NPCs to the castle, mostly for visual effect. I've also shortened the opening; now it's simply Akira stating that he must fight the Dark Lord.


Don't let that black background fool you; it's actually blinking really, really fast. (edit: And please disregard the spelling error in that textbox. It's been fixed since that shot was taken.)


This is a Phantom Feline, being hit with the Zap spell(which I just added graphics for; and it's about time!).


As of this update, the Dark Lord Nathan takes his job(and the English language) much more seriously. He still says "LOL," though.


This is an example of one of the new NPCs.

I added graphics for the other two lightning spells.



Encase nobody noticed, I use paper/scizzors/rock symbology for the attack spells.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I prefer making a bunch of small updades to making a handful of huge ones. It's the only way I can seem to pay enough attention to get anywhere. If I had tried to wait until this game was as far as it is now to release it, rather than starting with one walkabout and a handful of textboxes, I probably would have given up long ago.

And small updates are things like this:

Adding a handful of new NPCs, and a couple of treasure chests, and tweaking equipment in subtle ways. That's the ticket.

Game still sucks. /wrists

But seriously, consider putting more than 10 minutes into each object. Even if they turn out like shit, I still spend about a half hour per maptile, even more time for walkabouts/heros.

I do spend more than ten minutes on many objects. Sometimes hours.

Good for you. I find that often five minutes will produce exactly what I want out of my graphic. I'm not going to sit in the graphics editor going back and forth on a single pixel once I'm satisfied with the way something looks.

Besides which, I am ultimately concerned with battle ballance and overall challenge. My second concern is humorous dialogue. Sound and graphics are my lowest priorities.
