You'd think that Obama's approval rating would have gained more than seven points on Gallup because of Bin Laden's death, and more importantly have stayed up. His approval at election was 64% according to The Guardian... where did all that support go?

Daily Mail (a UK site) is implying that, not only was this the shortest-lasting Military Approval Bounce of any president, but that Obama's now scrambling to regain approval by trying to reinstate drilling for oil. Never mind the fact that we won't feel the effects of the reinstatement until November or so, given how long it takes to refine oil. He also did something he should have done a long time ago, in releasing his long-form birth certificate. Why did he do it now? Other than to shut up one Donald Trump, I mean. (Trump was unelectable anyway, so it's just further mind-boggliness.)

The Guardian (another UK stite) reported that the Military Approval Bounce that Obama had led to his best approval of the past two years. Seriously? It took a Bush-esque military action (granted, he needed brassier balls than Bush had to offend Pakistan like that, given we need them for Afghanistan) to get a peak? On top of that, only 52% of us at that peak said that we approved of how he was handling the economy. Er, what? To quote a friend of mine, that number don't fit with what American News be sayin'. Especially since an assumably equally large 52% say that the country is actually on the wrong track.

Talking Points Memo says that his economic approval is actually at an all-time low. However, the disclaimer at the bottom of that article says "The NBC poll was conducted May 5-7 among 800 adults nationwide. It has a margin of error of 3.46%," so this is most likely NOT a fair sampling. Still, it fits with my own personal opinion. Here's a tip: you don't shut off supply when prices are already high due to speculation that supplies will dwindle. Yes, he's trying to fix his mistake there, but we're not even going to notice the effects until election season - by which time his approval might be so low that he's unelectable.

I never supported Obama, but I was willing to give him his chance. The thing is, he's looking to me more like the man with two wives. One wife loved his gray hair, and pulled out all the black hair. The other wife loved his black hair, and pulled out all the gray. Imagine their surprise when he turned out bald!
