Yawn...good morning...

I've taken about 1 month off from working on TLG, but I'm back with a
vengeance. There's one more new dungeon (a mine), and you have to
trade for the item to light your way within it (at the trading post). there's
also a funny exchange if you try to progress through the dungeon with the
torches off. I've also been working on the new town, and a new recruitable
character. The New cave linking the new part of the world map to the next
one is begun, and I'll probably finish it today. Those cave maptiles have
been the most fun to use of any I've made yet, and the most versatile.

I know those torches look a little big in proportion to the characters...I
wanted them to be big, but...damn. I'll probably size them down a little bit.
The town still needs some work...people, fountains, trees, etc., but it's
coming along pretty well. It's basically a re-imported tileset from my last
town, only with a different backdrop, showing that it's a mining town in the
mountains.

I'm not even going to think about some of the plotscripting troubles that
I (still) have, and instead focus on the story and town/dungeon/character
design. I'm keeping a running tab of PS projects on the back burner,
though, so when I'm better at PS'ing I can tackle them. As long as I'm
feeling fantastical, here's something else that will never happen:

That there is either skillful ripping or skillful pixelating on your part (the last image suggests the first). I like how the graphics are applied in any case. That takes certain skills.

The art style of Local Gods is really cool. I don't know of any other OHR game that has such a level of realism in the maptiles.

Thank you, everybody!

I digitized a lot of photographs, imported them as BMP backdrops, and used the 'cut maptiles' function in order to make the tiles that you see. While it's true that I edited them a LOT to get them to be seamless, and some creative placement went a long way, I can't say that they were all done by hand. It kinda feels like cheating, but I guess I'm just using the tools available. I wanted the game to have a certain look, and it just wasn't happening with hand-pixeling. I did do the cave tilesets and the world maptiles all by hand, though.

I don't think it's cheating. I think it's inventive. Good luck completing this.
