Them's Fightin' Words
    Note: This game has gotten an upgrade from Uncommon's and JSH's review.

Legend of Zelda Sword of Gods is an interesting bag. It took a very interesting idea (the death of Link and the return of Ganon) and then takes it down an ultimately rehashed Ocarina of time (without the ocarina) This game is definitely in need of improvement, which is always available with practice, time and effort.



Graphics
    I believe this game suffers from a case of "make one tile, and fit it together" syndrome. However, BattleBlaze attempts to make his game by placing these maptiles in interesting ways. However, the maptiles aren't plentiful enough to fulfill his wishes, ending up with grass in mountains that appear out of nowhere, and patches of grass that are quite griddy.

In general, everything was pretty ugly looking. The walkabouts were mediocre, but passable. Sadly, the maptiles confused me and I could hardly tell where I was going. The battle graphics were pretty bad, but again, not the worst thing to hit the OHRRPGCE.

But here is where the game shines. The cutscenes were very nice in my eye. They were drawn well (though the coloring was a bit weird) and had nice placement (I believe this is also called composition) to them. It's too bad these sequences didn't make up the game.



 
Storyline
    As I said before, this area is practically Ocarina of Time without the Ocarina. We begin with our version of Link waking up in his tree house. There is no Navi to wake him up, however, making the story seem as if it were trying to differentiate itself from LOZOOT. Sadly, those type of things, like Navi and the plants that looked similar to the plants in Mario make this game seem like an"evil" (in the sense of Rinku's use of the word) game. A more original story would have been much more fitting for the story's premise.



 
Gameplay
    Unbalanced! Quite unbalanced. This is the main aspect of any game, and frankly, LOZSOG doesn't give it. It lacks in almost all areas. Incoherent maps and battles that jumped around in difficulty ruined this game from becoming at least a D-. The game merely didn't feel as if it had extensive playtesting on it. It's not the worst in OHRRPGCE history, but it's pretty close. Thankfully, the debug buttons were still on, and I was able to skip battles.



 
  Battle
    I didn't really get a chance to explore the list of moves that the main character had. It was quite limited, as the 2 special moves did the same thing. There was a group of nice enemies, the bats. They required to be attacked by a jump move. This added variety to those battles. Sadly, when enemies are either taking too much or too little it really detracts from nice things like this.



 
  Map Design
    Confusing. This is mostly a fault of the lack of graphics to create BattleBalzes's obvious vision. These maps become griddy, and hard to decipher in the brain. It's not headache-inducing (like Neo Krysta I) but it definitely needs improvement to settle this part of the imaginary world.



 
  Balance
    Not balanced at all. The enemies at the beginning of the game were harder than the random battles later, which were too easy. Basically, this shows either
1: BattleBlaze didn't do extensive testplay with battles
or
2: BattleBlaze is a weak RPG player.
Of course, it's easier to say 1, but 2 is a definite possibility. My tip would be to get people to playtest (I'm always available) to play to get different difficulty challenge levels.



 
Music
    I am assuming that all the music is ripped.

Familiar tunes from Zelda: Ocarina of Time are abundant. However, they aren't pulled off with finesse as they have bad BAMestration. They do get the main melody across, but fail in the respects of giving off the little embellishments.



 
Enjoyment
    Sadly, Legend of Zelda: Sword of Gods isn't very enjoyable at this state. With reworked battles and revamped graphics, this game could become mediocre. Otherwise, if BattleBlaze wants to create an extremely good game, I would recommend that BattleBlaze begin a new game (it can still be fan based) with a more original story.



 
Final Blows
    Legend of Zelda is a nice start, but definitely not something to drool over. It has potential, but it will take a Dr. Frankenstein to form this into a man.

Not too great in this area. Much improvement could be made. Avoid the one tile is good enough type of mind.
Storyline: 3/10.0
Ocarina of Time. Minus the Ocarina.
Gameplay: 4/10.0
Unbalanced battles and static moves put this in the low spot, brought up by hit specific enemies.
Music: 3/10.0
Ripped, but not to the best ability.
Enjoyment: 1.5/10.0
This game doesn't offer much enjoyment. With tweaking, it could become a nice game.
Overall Grade: F
Final Thoughts
    Not great, but definitely has the possibility to be.
