Review # 53 for Eagtile
Them's Fightin' Words
Well, let's see. There is very little I can tell anyone about this game seeing as there is next to nothing to do in the entire game. Despite the filesize, the game is very short. Ok, it's not just short, after the title screen, there isn't anything interesting you can do. I tried, I really did! I tried to find a door or something that would lead me into an adventure. I used the debug keys! I explored the empty town, but there was NOTHING! Nevertheless, here's a list of what you can do... 1. You can go inside the inn/item store. The item shop doesn't work and you never need to use the inn because there are no battles anywhere. 2. You can maliciously kill an old man and venture into a cave that "hasn't been created yet." 3. You can find a secret passage (oh boy!) through some water which leads to a guy who says "HAHAHA! You walked over all that water for nothing!" Then the music changes and he disappears. That's it! Really! That's all you can do! I was rather disappointed... If there actually is a way to get into any sort of adventure or quest, I suggest the creator make it a little more obvious. Otherwise, the creator should actually make their demo playable before they release it. However, despite the obvious lack of gameplay, there are a few good points to the game.

The graphics were almost decent in this game. It looks like a bit of effort has been put into drawing each individual tile but they don't blend very well. And some of them are just weird, there's one tile that is basically just a bunch of random pixels of color, I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. Overall the graphics are just awkward, the creator should put more time into blending them together. Some of them are very nicely drawn though. The music is definitely the strong point of this game. It's got some tracks I've never heard (so they could be original or ripped) which are catchy and seem to be pretty well placed. However, one of the tracks is ripped from FF4 (2) and sounds bad anyways. There is no storyline in the game. I've been to the creator's homepage and he actually has outlined the entire storyline of the game. It sounds good. Too bad none of it is actually in the game. There is no gameplay.
Final Scores
Graphics: 3/10.0
Some of them are nice. But they all seem very awkward and don't blend at all.
Storyline: 1/10.0
Sorry, no storyline.
Gameplay: 1/10.0
Gameplay? Hmmm... false?
Music: 6/10.0
A high point of the game. All we need is more of it.
Overall Grade: F
Final Thoughts
Sorry... there's almost nothing to do in this game... according to a readme included with the game, the creator just threw something together after realizing the ohrrpgce would not support the kind of stuff they wanted in their game. That's too bad, with more work, the game *could* have been good.
