Review # 5 for Xerian
Them's Fightin' Words
Wally's Castle isn't what you think it is. It isn't about exploring a castle to save it or anything like that. But you still are after a treasure, some jewels. But to get there, you must play minigames. Another game to add to the minigame collection.

Wally's Castle starts with a guy named Lock searching for jewels. Lock steps up to Wally, a person guarding the castle. You then decide how to attack. With Ice, Lighting, Fire, or Attack. Then he runs away. You step inside and a voice tells you that you have to beat minigames to advance. As I stepped in, and played the games, I was strongly reminded of Super Mario RPG's castle minigames and Chrono Trigger's festival guessing game. I wonder why?

There are about 10 minigames. A person guessing game, like the one in Chrono Trigger, 3 quiz games about OHR and well known RPGs, a game where you need to reach a point without being caught, moving boxes to get a treasure, guessing which item is more expesive and in the progress, finding a prisoner, and other similar games. After you're done, you have to fight a few enemies, then head north into another room where the prisioner Jill, meets someone who tricked her. She says she was possesed in the past and to prove it, she helps you. Then you head into the next room to fight a jewel genie to get the jewels. Unfortunatly, I never beat it. Too hard.
Final Scores
Graphics: 3/10.0
The graphics are not at the best, but they're not good either.
Storyline: 5/10.0
The story is not really original, but it was okay to live with.
Gameplay: 8/10.0
There are a few simple minigames you can play. The battles are beatable, but the Jewel Genie was too hard. The minigames didn't have any bugs, except for one that would transport you to the wrong area if you lost.
Music: 4/10.0
The music could have been placed more appropriately, and all of it was ripped.
Overall Grade: B-
Final Thoughts
If the author adds more complicated and creative minigames, and tunes down the difficulty of the Jewel Genie, this game would lots more fun.
