Review # 46 for Eagtile
Them's Fightin' Words
This review is for an older version of the game

Wow. This game is way better than the first Miyan island. The authors have obviously improved their game-making skills. Backstory: Miyans are small triangles that live on an island. They possess great power. Their culture is also very unique. For example, today is Miyan Egg day. On Miyan egg day, Miyan eggs fall from the sky to be hatched and raised by the Miyans. However, on this particular Miyan egg day, only one egg fell. This is an extremely uncommon happening. It means that when that particular Miyan hatches, it will be a great warrior. This Miyan is named Hya.

Plot: You play this Miyan named Hya. The story begins with some Miyan screaming "AAAAHHHH!!!! The crystal has been stolen from the tower! We must get it back within a week or terrible things will happen!" Hya then decides to go on a journey to find whoever or whatever did this and get the crystal back. (This intro should have been longer and more developed). Anyways, Hya wanders around town finding all the doors locked except for the inn. (The Miyans are a very paranoid people you know...) You can sleep in the inn or read a sign that says something about a drunken Miyan killing someone. This doesn't seem to have much relevance to the game... maybe it will later. Once you leave the town, however, a red rock thing is blocking your way and you have to kill it (Yay!). The fight is easy however, the rock can't do anything. After leaving the town, you find a save point (flashing white-yellow tile) and a treasure box that teaches you a new spell, (You can never use this spell, the demo ends before you have enough ability). Then you walk through some trees and fight another rock. It looks the same, still doesn't have any moves, but very annoyingly, has four times as much HP. After beating this rock, you gain four levels but the demo is over :(

The storyline in this Miyan island is much more solid than the original. It sets up the scenario and puts you directly into the action. However, the storyline only takes up 1 or 2 text boxes and is therefore, not very developed. The graphics are also much improved. There is a higher use of shading, rounding, and edging and the title screen is also decent. The battle background however is the same as the original and still leaves much to be desired. The music is great, better than the first one. Many of the songs are the same but better music has been picked from the engine and the ripped (I think) battle music is incredible. Gameplay, uh oh. The game really hurts here. There isn't really any gameplay, the demo is much to short to develop anything. You fight two red rocks that can't do anything.
Final Scores
Graphics: 6/10.0
Unique style. Better than the first Miyan island. There's always room for improvement however.
Storyline: 4.5/10.0
Great potential here. A unique and original approach could make this game very good if the backstory and storyline were more developed.
Gameplay: 1.5/10.0
*sigh*.... There isn't any gameplay.
Music: 7.5/10.0
Nice stuff. The battle music is excellent.
Overall Grade: C
Final Thoughts
This game has potential but it also has a lot of problems. However, they can ALL be fixed with more work. The game is to short to enjoy right now, but I'll be watching for the next update.
