Review # 46 for Chaos Nyte
Them's Fightin' Words
This review is for an older version of the game

Just great. Another lame newbie game, with the main heroes as...triangles. Still, Miyan Island doesn't turn out to be your typical newbie game...

Storyline- Dialogue can be summed up in one great opening sentence; "Im gotta destory that guy badly!" An actual quote from the game, dialogue and plot from Miyan Island are almost nonexistent, and always on the edge of incoherence. The hero, Hyu, (A plucky young green triangle) wakes one day to find out all his furniture has been stolen. The thief, Yoko, leaves a message which mocks Hyu's less then l33t ninja skillz. So Hyu heads out, talks to a few other triangles and, meets a new buddy, Yitsune, (Who joins up, of course) and then heads to the neighbors for a quick nap, cause his house doesn't have a bed. He awakens only to find that everyone has disappeared. Wee. You can then wander around and fight a big ass Tekto in the corner, and proceed east until your told the demo is over. There's probably little more then twenty text boxes in this whole game.

Graphics- Good use of shading, and a unique art style. Colors are bright and vibrant, and the enemies are well designed. The demo is really to short to know if this kind of quality would of kept up, and your still playing as triangles with eye problems.

Gameplay- Battles are extremely well designed, only the quick thinking will survive. No puzzles in the game, and the lack of length, (Only twenty minutes long), make good battles a poor excuse for actually gameplay. Only two maps in the game, and the items you can buy are only for healing. Then there's the whole question of how a triangle could hold a weapon, but I disgress...

Music- Well picked out, and I think there is an original track in the first house. It's awful though.

Final Thoughts
The games playable, if only just. With some changes, this could be an adventure you should keep your eye on.
