Review # 41 for Eagtile
Them's Fightin' Words
Basically, this game is about a group of wizards (and one warrior) who defeated an evil villain named Ark a long time ago to save a goddess. Suddenly, Ark reappears again. The story focuses on one of the hero's son, Draz, who is also a wizard. Draz goes on a quest to find the sons and daughters of the past heroes so that they can defeat Ark once again. That's the gist of it. Some thought seems to have been put into this backstory but it could benefit from a little more development. Such as explanation through backdrops and cool music, instead of just one screen.

You start off in your town and your mom tells you you should see you uncle outside who in turn tells you you must venture west of the town to a different town to find out more about your quest. You walk through a "valley" wrought with enemies and arrive at the next town. Draz fights some dragon and saves a young girl. She tells him that her cousin is really the daughter of one of the great heroes of the past and you head through some snowy mountains to find her. There are no doors leading off the snowy mountains so I assume that is the end. This general storyline, just like the backstory could benefit from more development. Everything happens a little too fast and the plot gets confusing.

A few of the graphics are nice but none of them blend well together so I assume they were ripped from various games. I know for a fact that every monster was ripped from secret of mana. Have some originality! Also I find it kind of annoying that everyone is a wizard with a palette swap, more creativity would be nice here too. The music sounds pretty good. It could be ripped but nevertheless, it was placed well. The only thing I didn't like was that the engine's snow flurries track was used for both the snowy mountain and the snowy mountain battles. I do like the track but in moderation please! The storyline was okay. I liked the concept but it could really use more development. More text boxes! Give the storyline to me slower and it would be easier to understand. Gameplay is one of the better aspects of this game, in my opinion, despite the massive spelling errors. The battles are well balanced and fairly entertaining. The game also sports two mini games. The second one is pretty good but the first one is very annoying. If you solve it once, you can solve it over and over again and earn infinite cash. Nice try though. It was also pretty frustrating that there was only one shop in the game (that only sold one weapon) and people kept telling me to stock up on healing items.
Final Scores
Graphics: 3/10.0
Many of them are nice. But they don't blend well as many are obviously ripped.
Storyline: 4/10.0
I like the concept. More development would make it more entertaining and easier to understand.
Gameplay: 4.5/10.0
This game was fun to play. The mini games should be more complicated though, and it'd be nice if there were more shops and houses.
Music: 5.5/10.0
Pretty good. A greater variety is more enjoyable however.
Overall Grade: C-
Final Thoughts
A good attempt. The basis for this game is fine, but it needs for development and touching up to become good.
