I'm going to a Five Iron Frenzy concert in 11 days. It's their last one in DFW, and their last one ever will be in Denver on November 22.

Everyone needs to download some Dragonforce NOW. They are the greatest 80s hair metal band EVER. Why? EVER SONG is about dragons, warriors, ancient kings, wizards, and epic tales of fantasy. Perfect if you listen to metal and make fantasy RPGs. Some of the greatest lyrics ever, in an unintentionally funny way.
Example:
(typical piano and vocal solo)
Outside on a winter's night
When the rain begins to fall
There's a chill in the air and the howl of the wolves
And the rain beats on the door
Seven kings will ride on the wind
Out towards the mountainside
And the only soundthat will break the air
Is the warrior's bitter cry.
and so on and so forth.
They manage to bring warriors, seven kings, wolves, and legends of yore into every single song. I love it. This is THE ultimate 80s metal band.

Sorry, but I really can't take hair-metal, or mystical fantasy-tinged lyrics, especially in the pseudo epic setting of hard rock. That's just me though. Led Zeppelin got away with that kind of crap all the time, and they are considered like rock gods of the 70s, or something. Way overrated, if you ask me, although they certainly had some great songs, and they were probably the best at what they did.

Hey Me, ever hear of Raphsody? I bet you'd love them. They came up with their own fantasy world, and the lyrics to the songs are all stories that take place in said world. ROCK.

I was being sarcastic, in case no one noticed . . . Dragon Force is soooo incredibly cheesy, it's funny. Their singer sucks, too - he's flat most of the time, and his voice is really weak. Their guitar riffs are pretty good, though.
