1. sex in space-- has to be 0 gravity. apparently theres a lot of problems with that..

It doesn't have to work. It would open up so many fun "ways"!

I read a story called "All you zombies" in which a single person, as a result of time travel, was his own mother, father, and daughter. It took place during a time travel war.

did you read it or was it on Escape Pod? It's a great story!

And somebody was telling me about a time travel story where somebody becomes his own father and his own mother (after a sex change in the technologically advanced future) but I can't remember the name of it.

All You Zombies
I heard it on Escape Pod. Really awesome story, has a reference to the song "I'm My Own Grandpa". Ha ha ha!
SPOILER:
Oh, and it wasn't a total sex change. He was a hermaphrodite. Then the sex change and he was a bar tender. Then his own recruiter.

Oops!
I didn't mean QED - I was probably saying that because that's what Feynmann talks about in all of his videos. No ... I mean QFT. Quantum Field Theory! The theory used by the Standard Model of physics.

I just found an introductory book :-D

Hm, how far have you gotten with Physics and Mathematics? I did a quick bit of reading, and it sounds like you will need a solid grasp of single particle quantum dynamics, as well as a powerful knowledge of operator theory, and maybe differential geometry and abstract algebra leading to gauge theory.

Often text books teach you the background you need to know.

My quantum's OK, I think. I was taking a 4th year QM class and by the end, the professor was drawing Feynmann diagrams - however, this was extra material, and by this time I was rather lost. I'll probably have to go over a lot of my notes, review second quantization etc.
I don't recognize the term "operator theory", although we did a lot of work with bizarre operators in one of my quantum classes: creation/annihilation operators...
(Is this "a-dagger" I see before me? Come, let me clutch thee!
Lolololol! Get it? Maybe not ... the joke is notation-specific. )
I also remember throwing the hamiltonian operator into exponentials. That was weird.

I did some differential geometry in a GR class - but my understanding of it is pretty lousy. Anyways, that doesn't matter, I can't imagine QFT being taught in anything but a flat space-time. You'd only need to use the minkowski metric, and I can do that.

I've done lots of gauge stuff in classical E&M, and a little teeny bit of relativistic gauge stuff in QM :-S
