Hi, here's a preview of my project. It's an RPG about:

1. a man taking it easy until he sees something that isn't meant for him to see

2. a female assassin who is free to quit after one final mission

3. a student who wants to turn into a monster

4. a mad demon who finds himself lost in the middle of a city, with his powers sealed away by a powerful mage

5. an experiment who's looking for a job in the wrong place

6. a prostitute who's infected with vampiric blood

7. a herald who seeks the power of the Twelve Gifts

I'm thinking of making a saga frontier style game but i will have to learn how to make different starting characters and have them carry over stuff to the next game. And maybe allow the user to change their names.

This game sounds hardcore, and the style is very cool.

I like the non-pixel approach, though it seems like the heavy white around the characters seems to work against them, but it's hard to tell with such a JPEG'd image.

those graphics don't seem like they were made for the OHR. Did you rip them perhaps? Maybe a friend made them? Also, will the game play go along with the graphics, like pixel based moving for example?

Whatever the case may be, it looks like a neat idea and I'd love to play it.

Razz Thanks for your opinions guys, I drew them for the ohr custom. each was drawn bigger but was reduced to meet the engine's requirements. I just put walls on the parts where they aren't supposed to step on and put a layer of the same drawing where they are supposed to be behind. I'm not sure i understand the pixel based gameplay but it does work.

You should look into a pixel based movement script (I'm sure TMC knows the whereabouts of it) to make travelling on non-grid oriented maps more natural.

Wow really? Will look into that.

Who's Allan Ball?

BTW: Is there a way to replace the master pallete? I've replaced it in Custom and everything looked fitter but when i test play it it looks all weird and wrong. The colours are mixed up and psychedelic....

Nobody can own the concept of vampire hookers! That idea belongs to the whole world!

Importing a new master palette does not automatically remap your existing graphics, so it is only really useful for a new game where you have not drawn any graphics yet.

However, you can use the 'CHGPAL' utility to remap all of your graphics to a new palette.

I tried using the pallete extracted from the top image which brought nice results but doing so loses the greens in the bottom image. I saw in general game data that you may have more than one master pallete but i realized later on that only one can be active. Is there a way to assign a master pallete for each tileset? Thanks....

Unfortunately the support for multiple master palettes is very limited. Even if you could use a different master palette for each tileset, your sprites would look scrambled with all master palettes except the one they were imported on.

What you suggest would be a good feature to add to a future version, but there is no way to do it now.

Alright, i'l stick to the OHR palette for now then, i'll keep checking the site for updates.

Oh, and thanks for making this engine, it's the greatest!

The way to work around that issue would be to split palettes into two segments, one for sprites, and the other for tiles, where the sprite segment of the master palette is always the same.

These are the seven starting character choices each has a different ability, and plot. Is there a way to load an rpg file when a character is chosen? It could be easier to make if each character has its own rpg file....
-on second thought that was stupid question, sorry about that.

I really dislike the white around the characters, but the rest is pretty awesome. Also I'm a big SaGaFrontier fan.

Vix reminds me a lot of Julie Winters.

And Kong kind of reminds me of this.
