It will be posted on the HoT front page as soon as the producer gets the link I sent him. He actually compiled this video per my request for public release, consisting of tidbits from the original soundtrack.

You can watch it here:

Excellent as always. I can never tell if you're just a more well-rounded composer than me, or if I just need a few more YEARS of serious study and practice.

At the moment, the evidence says the former.

Beautiful score! Pretty good sound from the Vsts too. I detect a hint of Howard Shore in the sound, if that's fair to say.

Edit: Beans, will those years of study and practise include learning theory? Big grin

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

@ Jabber: Yeah. When they sent me reference tracks to give me an idea of the kind of sound they wanted for certain scenes, many of them were from Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean. At the same time, I had to make sure the sound would still be identifiable with Legend of Zelda.

@ Bena: I don't think it's either. I think we both just approach film scores differently. I'm only well educated in piano theory. All I know of orchestration I know from listening to other composers' work and adopting their techniques.

Wow, that is some really gorgeous music. Well done man! I think I liked the Music Box and Going Home best. I am curious, did they actually get a full orchestra to play this? Or was the music somehow synthesized? It sounds real, but I know it wasn't a very high budget film and orchestras aren't exactly cheap.

It's all done virtually, with the use of VSTi's (MIDI plugins with higher quality instrument samples that the MIDI gets routed into instead of the General MIDI bank by means of a host program).

I try to make it sound as real as I can, which is fairly easy to do with Edirol Orchestral (the orchestral VSTi used in the making of this music)

Commendable usage of such an obsolete sample bank.

How is a sound obsolete? Do you mean in functionality or the actual sound of the sounds themselves?
