show me artwork you're either currently working on or that you've already finished with that you are really proud of.

i'm currently working on my first oil painting in almost 2 years (yes, i still do art!) and i'm really liking how it's turning out so far. i ran out of turpentine though and i'm too poor to buy more so unfortunately it's on hold for now!

sorry, the photos are pretty blurry since it's basically impossible to take a good photo of artwork without the flash turned on.

and for reference, here is the photo i am working from:

obviously the shirt is no where near done. i'm still trying to decide if i want to add all the tiny cross details on her shirt. it'll be painstaking but i'm a sucker for detail work, so who knows!

also, here's a piece i did back in high school. i still love it. the photo itself wasn't very good and kind of awkward with all the black in the background, but i really like the tiny details on the faces:

close up!

ok well that's enough procrastinating for now, i've really got to study for my exam tomorrow.

Is the second art piece a photo you painted over or something? I'm assuming it is an oil paint but it looks so real... I haven't worked with painting almost at all, so if you could tell me what materials you used and what your canvas was, that'd be neat, thanks. I'd be interested in doing something like it if I can produce results like yours.

And at the moment, I don't have a particular art piece I'm working on, but I promise I'll post one eventually.

the second one is actually just a black sheet of pastel paper and i used colored pencils on it. it was SO hard to use colored pencils on that paper, i definitely wouldn't recommend it unless you're really patient because it took me weeks to finish.

That's genuinely quite amazing. I think for me its greatest merit is the softness produced by the texture, it's very lush. Lovely! I wish I could comment more on the work, but unfortunately I've never really used the medium, so I can't offer any insight. I find the gradient on her right cheek to be especially pleasing.

PS:(Might the girl with the nose piercing be anyone in particular? Happy )

and the girl with the piercing is me, haha. about 2-3 years ago, that is. sort of an awkward picture but what can you do, it was for an assignment!

It's very lovely art. Happy Who is the person that you did the painting of? Is it you? How long did this take you to do?

And since I promised I'd post something, I'm not really that proud of it anymore, but I was when I originally did it. It was a lot of crosshatching, and I ran my pen dry once I finished. It was back in 2006.
