Two years ago, i bailed out due to personal issues.
Last year, it just didnt happen.
This year, I intend on making up on lost time.

That's right, it's the 48h contest.

What?
The 48 hour contest was started by me about 10 years ago. Participants had 48 hours to make a game from start to finish based on a set of requirements that were presented.

How?
This year, the contest is no longer a single event. This year, there will be a series of rounds. Each week, i'll present a new set of requirements to be included in the games, and they will, again, have 48 hours to make a game based on those requirements.

Who?
For previous years, each entry was restricted to a maximum of 2 people. This year, there are no limits to the size of the groups. Be it one person, or a dozen. It's all good.

And as i stated before, there's more than one round, and each contestant may only submit one entry per round, but they may enter more than one round.

When?
The first round will start on the 2nd of June EST (the first weekend of the month), then the next round will begin the following weekend and so on. The amount of rounds will be dependant on the success of the past rounds.

Judgement
After each round, there will be a panel of judges the rate the games and ultimately determine the winner of the week. Each week, there will be a new panel of judges. The judges will be whoever PMs me with a request to be a judge before the start of the round. There will be a panel of 3 judges. Also, judges cannot participate in the round that they are judging.

After the last round of judging, everyone will get a chance to vote on their favourites and determine a final victor. But not only will people vote for their favourite games, they will also vote for the best aspects of the games! Which brings us to...

OHRlympics
With permission from Moogle1, i've decided to revive the OHRlympics. For those of you who aren't familiar, the OHRlympics basically allows people to vote for the most outstanding aspects of games. Be it graphics, map design, music, whatever. Players will decide what they like best, and ultimately deciding who is the best author, and which game is the best. Details aren't finalized yet, but more to come as soon as they are ready.

I hope that covered the details. Any further questions, just PM or post.

Let's make this year a great one!

This looks fun.

I'd ask questions, but it looks like you covered everything.

This sounds really great. Now I just need to form a team to win this year. Every year I tried I got so close. Hell, Worthy and I almost won with Gargan and Troy a few years back.

I'm not sure I like the new formatting -- is it really a 48 hour contest if the game is built during several 48 hour periods? But I guess we'll see if that works better.

It'll be a different game each period.

OK, I forgot to reply to this. The timing is bad - coinciding with exams - but I'm eager to enter as many as possible anyway. But people might pick and choose which set of requirements they like, so don't give us boring ones for the first week and then cancel it because there was no turnout!

Here's the previous OHRlympics results on Op:OHR, for those who don't know: http://www.castleparadox.com/archive/operationohr/feature-ohrlympics.php

Question:

can we work on graphics before the contest starts? if so, can graphics be imported? also what time does it start?

What would be the point of constructing a game in 48-hours if you could use the week before it to make graphics?

the general idea is to make everything within 48 hours, including any planning

and as to the start time

so, as soon as the clock strikes 12, then it's go time

A few questions/comments:

Q's:
1. Is there any prizes or awards for participating in it?
a. If there is, what about prizes for solo participants vs duo participants?

2. Do you have to participate in every round?

3. Explain the judging system in detail, if you can.

Comments:

I'd like to participate but I'm presently a full time student (game design XD).

(also, a bit off topic, I'd like to apologize for the participants in the games that suck contest, the prizes are still here from last year (rotfl), but I've been in an extreme financial situation for a long time now.)
