Finish it, then we'll talk.
Sounds Castlevania-ish. The first ten seconds don't know where they're going; the song finds its direction at about 0:13. I wish this section were longer, since it ends rather abruptly and the following section is basically the first repeated. _________________

And moogle1 the god spoke, and so I executed. Song is now finished.
Can't say I've taken it off any castlevania's influence, because frankly, I don't remember playing any of the series. But the first part is my "style" (dark orchestral, timpanis, etc) and the second part is my "ancient" style (I've learnt music over the MOD universe doing Dance tracks like every other modder... lol)
I've tweaked the intro sequence because it lacked beat and felt overcrowded (it felt as though the song couldn't find itself indeed). Not sure if I did well...
I'll put it as Artimus' semi contest entry. not sure if it qualifies but oh well |

This wasn't an insult. Do yourself a favor and play Symphony of the Night.
Anyway. The style in the revised song drifts away from Castlevania and more towards a late-to-final dungeon in a modern RPG. I could still see it in an adventure platformer, especially with the techno bit. _________________

eh well thanks, and I didn't take it as an insult. All I know is I keep being told some of my songs sound like castlevania, yet, I'm not a big fan of platformers so I haven't gotten around playing it.
Think the way it switches is bad? I'm not sure if it wouldn't be better straightforwardly put as an orchestral piece alone... |

SotN has a lot of pieces that combine classical and metal. Your piece might do well as a straight orchestral arrangement, but the way it is is perfect for, say, a futuristic RPG. _________________

Yeah I've checked the midi versions on vgmusic.com. Some are interesting pieces I must admit (especially one that is a sort of orchestral waltz). Thanks for the inspiration. I think I'll do a waltz now
And I rarely edit a finished version to give it another direction, but meh, who knows, maybe I'll give it a shot later
EDIT: Btw, you didn't rate it |

1/10..... on suckiness :-P
I like it. I didn't think of Castlevania until Moogle mentioned it but nevertheless, it is a good piece. I am not much for getting detailed about music unless it's bad, so... congrats. :p _________________ http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=750 Bloodlust Demo 1.00

Well thanks nonetheless
Critic of the parts I could fix would've been welcome but ya, I think Moogle1 summed most of it anyway.
Thanks for your concise comments It is appreciated. |
