After browsing through the hamsterrepublic downloads page, I find this new midi maker, so I figured it was worth the download;however, once I get to the site, I'm told that it's only available in source code form, and that I'll have to compile it myself.
Can someone explain how I'm supposed to compile the code? Thanks. |

Well, which version of Linux do you have? Some distros have it included as an application already installed like Mandriva.
Sadly, I couldn't get the sound to play back with it. It seemed like such a useful tool, too. I guess Linux is a bit much for me at the moment.
Download the tar.bz2 it has a readme file explaining what you need to do. Also, look around and see if your distro has a precompiled version.
Hope this if some help to you. _________________ Calehay |

That's what the little bar "music software for Linux" means. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

I just like the notate-styled composition format better than anvil studio's, but the problem with the OHRRPGCE-provided notate program was that I couldn't use my mouse to click around.
It'd be great if someone could point me in the direction of a free music program like midi maker |

It's a shame Cubase isn't freeware (or is it? I've never checked), because it has a very easy-to-operate step-recording graph system where you choose your note and drag out the note's length, where the graph itself is adjusted by the time signature and the type of note you want as default (anywhere from a whole note to a 64th note).
Now that's playing with power. XP _________________
