Lets do these in order...
1. The beginning is a little boring, and the stuttering effect dosn't do any good. However, once the other instruments come in it becomes evident that this is about the only bad thing about this song. It's got a good tempo, catchy and uses a wide variety of instruments. Good work. Just work on the start a little.
2. This song has disorder written all over. It would be perfect for a circus. Run by Satan. Again, once the song gets going it gets better. To improve it, try changing a few instuments, mainly the foreground ones, and work a little on the start.
3. Cool, dark and mysterious. This track flows nicely and gives a sense of loss or forboding. I can't think of any way to improve this song. Great work
4. Another dark peice. This sounds like something ripped from Runescape. It seems there are two different tempos here, which sound good in some places but not-so-good in others. Yet again, the start needs a little work.
It seems to me that your skill surfaces after you have been working for a while, as all your songs get better as the go on. Try going over the first half of your tracks again when you think your finished. Overall, this is some great work. I'd like to see (er, hear) more.
One final note, welcome to CP! |

"String Force" - This is a good idea to start, but it's in desperate need of more instruments. The string manuevers done in this piece are actually really good, especially when they begin to appear in various spots. There was a lot of good coordination there. This piece just needs a good bit of support from the rest of the orchestra.
"Foss Shuf" - This was not a bad piece, persay. One thing I have to comment on was that it's very 'overdone' in the fashion where there is way too much going on at once. This is not always a bad thing, but if all of those lines have to be happening simultaneously, then I recommend you readjust volume levels on the lesser important instruments. The only reason this pours out like a bulk bin is because everythings "in the Mix", which means that all levels and/or EQs are at the same level, making it sound more like a bowl of concrete rather than a bowl of pudding (if I can use that illustration).
"Blazer" - This piece was well done. Everything spacious in its own way that kept it from feeling hollow.
"Toomuc" - Not bad at all. This piece was really happening. Very well coordinated and orchestrated.
Altogether, you've got talent. That goes without say. What you need to do is keep at it, and as time goes by, you'll see your work greatly improve with the more practice you make and learn some more techniques. Great job! _________________

I'm not sure how other people would take this piece, since I favor a more chaotic view of music, but I'd say it's very nice. It sounds a lot like a late 90s acoustic-ish song. There was a lot of repetition, but it was made effective by a lot of changes in the music elsewhere (something you've been using in all these pieces, and it's always been effective.)
Join a team somewhere around here, once you've found one that you'll love to work with, and I'm sure you'd be welcome as their music-man. : )
[edit] there's always room for improvement though. Go back to these songs, and revise them; it may teach you a few more valuable things. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

Wow, I like all of these. Especially Blazer and Repent.
Are you taking requests or projects on? If you are, I'd really love if you could visit this thread: http://castleparadox.com/ohr/viewtopic.php?t=3745
Just a summary (so as to not waste your time): I'm making a remake of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and I need someone to help me do music for it. Er, help as in "do everything" .
In fact, as I sit here listening to Repent, I think that it could fit as the theme of one of of the characters I'm planning...
Regardless of the previous three paragraphs, I like your work, keep it up! _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

I wrote in your thread that you can use any of these pieces however you like, so I'd be honoured if you did!
And thanks for all the comments |

Excellent! Thank you!
I always like to have music when I'm doing character development, since it helps me focus on the personality of the character. Repent shifted my focus from a stereotypical character to a slightly-less so, and considerably more interesting one.
I'll keep you posted as to when it actually appears in the game... _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

I have to agree that these sound very advanced. You have an interesting style composition, and that's a great achievment. TELL ME HOW LONG YOU HAVE HAD MUSIC EXPERIENCE and I will get back to you on each of these songs... I think that would be interesting to know. I wish I had time to comment on each song tonight... I should have done it earlier. Sorry. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Thank you! I've played piano for around 2 and a half years, and have been interested in music for that long as well. I've written music before, but only a few pieces, so these are my first 'real' attempts. |
