I decided for the hay of it to make an alternative rock album using the new virtual vocalist instrument I got. So enjoy the first track (it took 7 freaking hours to make this)

http://setu.castleparadox.com/exhiled/01-Confessions.mp3

and so you can understand the lyrics better, here they are:

Code:
Confessions

(v1) I don’t understand why you
Embrace your insecurities
And run away with your sin
Leaving me on the side wondering why

(preCH) To me your dreams are all that matter
And if you run away my love will find you

(CH) Would you still love me
If I said you lied
You’ve broken all your promises
And left me here to die
Would you still love me
If I said you’re wrong
You bathe in your own selfishness
And leave me all alone
Leave me all alone

(v2) You don’t understand why I
waste my time with you
Maybe I’m just foolish
`cause my heart still beats for you.

Hmm... I expected your voice to be a tad deeper... :P

Anyway, very good. Maybe you'll finall get something else up on your shop (or even better, set up one that I could buy stuff from). I think my church would like this one, and it would likely become a regular part of 6:00 mass if the band got a hold of it.

Thoughts on the song: This really sounds professional. It's quite parallel to a lot of music that I listen to on my favorite rock station (89.7 "the river", bitches). You have mastered a lot of the effects, haven't you? :/

I enjoyed the bulk of the song. The voice is haunting, quite nice, but in some parts it seems to get off note a little. Maybe it's just a warp effect or something... It reminds me of a female singer I like...

Thoughts on the lyrics: Beautiful. I mean it. They are what I call the typical punk love song lyrics I am hearing a lot of these days, but you do them beautifully. I also like the "round" at around 4 minutes into the song. A very appropriate fit.

Keep wheelin' out these hits, Setu. XD

Haha! Same thoughts, buddy. It might just be distorted, though. And I am not sure, but I don't think that is HIS voice per se...

Neither do I.

Unless I understand this wrong, the vocalist in this song is completly virtual.

EDIT: Whoops, Joe Man basically said the exact same thing I did. Shows me not to post without reading every previous post...

Yes, the vocals are all virtual. They're not even real. It's just another instrument that I have to use.

And LeRoy, the fact that she sounded a bit offkey in some areas is because the instrument allows you to freely add the factor of human error, and when I drew the Pitch Bend graph, I purposely had her wander slightly off without going too far off the deep end. However, I think I know which part of the song you're talking about. I might have accidentally plotted out the wrong note in the harmony (2nd half of the 2nd chorus "Maybe I'm just foolish" part).

Other than that, glad ya liked it!

This is a really great song, and i had no idea you could make a computer sing your songs!! Thats really quite something. Technology moves so fast these days...

The song's great as i said. The guitar bits are rocking man, and I like the lyrics too! Very well done!

Alright. That's a true show of software as well as personal talent... What program/ tools are used in that? I've been wanting to write my own music, but a lack of being able to... vocalize without resorting to standard clips (I have no mike on this computer) and the fact that my voice only comes out in one tone anyway... Point me in the right direction, please?

Nuendo. Add a bunch of cool features, and you're good to go.

I think that's it. Setu says it's "extremely expensive," the fact that the price is not readily visible on the product page further supports this.

Yes, it looks expensive... I might try for it, or just find an OpenSource alternative. I'm not a big fan of expensive stuff. Then again, it might not be as "expensive" relatively speaking... I mean, for example, if it was the latest AutoCAD (some odd 3,000 USD) then I'd understand being expensive, but if it was 100 USD or so, I'd consider that fairly reasonable given the capabilities of the program.

No, it's more around the $3000 range. Expensive.

Alrighty, feel free to try that link again!

http://setu.castleparadox.com/exhiled

Just last night I made the second song. I know that most rock bands won't do a mellow piece until at least track 4, but I figured I'd try something different.

Also, in the bridge, I added my voice for vocals in....along with a few metal screams. <.< >.>

Code:
Letter

(v1) I feel the sunset on my face
The warmth grows in my heart
I am closer to the light
as my soul departs

Quiet fills the waters
The only thing that remains
is the thought of you
and the day you'll wake

(CH) As seasons change
Will you remember me
And when you're free
Will you come here with me
Where we can spread our wings and fly
Through the luminous sky
of this boundless ocean

(v2) In the palm of my hand
I can see your eyes
As the sorrow fills them
Like a vague disguise

Don't let your tears form
Rivers for me
I will be waiting here
in serenity

(bridge (Setu's voice XP)) Will you still remember me
will you come to be with me
Where we can spread our wings and fly
through the luminous sky

(bridge BG vocals) As seasons change
You are free

*Note that I paid no attention to the quality of the actual lyrics for this review*

I like the actual music. As with all of you work that I've seen, the music is the strongest aspect, and it transitions well from instrumentals to the sung parts, taking little attention from the song.

However, you still have a lot of work to do with the virtual vocalist. It's too hard to understand WTF it's saying and you're going too far with the pitch bend. Also, your voice simply didn't sound right is an otherwise 100% synthetic rock song, and I also noticed a qualit difference (though that may have been intentional). Now, I didn't mind too much because I really don't care what the guy's saying as long as the music is good (Example: Rammenstein), but the quality was deteriorated somewhat by the virtual vocalist's poor pitch and the quality difference of your voice. Try to keep everything pretty much the same.

But I do like it. A lot. Keep it coming. Don't stop until you've filled up every byte of space you can. Then Keep it coming even more. Then give me free CDs. Then give me a free CD case to hold your CDs. Then convince yourself that I'll give you money. Then don't find out all of my money is in my college fund.

By the way, where will I be able to buy this CD when you're done? Will you be able to get a contract with Yahoo for your music to play on Launch or some similar service like Real's? That would be awesome. I hope you manage to get that big deal with some big company you've been waiting for all your life.
