Hey folks.

I am trying to use MIDI2BAM to convert MIDI files to BAM files. Unfortunately, I cannot get the program to work. It starts up just fine. I press F3 (or whatever the appropriate key is) to select a MIDI file. I am brought to the menue. The menue has the "." and the ".." selections, and nothing else. I can move between the two. When I press tab to get to the file selection menue (which is empty) the whole application freezes up.

I have tried reinstalling with the most recent version. There is no improvement.

Notate.exe and playbam.exe don't seem to work either.

Game.exe plays BAMs just fine, and I am almost certain that custom.exe does also.

I am using Windows 98, and I have sucessfully used all of these programs in the past, and in the same installation (that is, I have used them since my last HD wipe).

Can anyone hazard a guess why this is happening? Thanks in advance.

On what drive is MIDI2BAM? It should be on the same one as your OHR games. If it's not on C:, try it there.

What directory within that drive? Actually, if all else fails, try putting MIDI2BAM and all of your MIDIs in C:\ (the root directory).

I recall having a similar problem, but it was years ago and I don't quite remember the solution.

make sure MIDI2BAM.EXE is not read-only (in the file properties)

make sure the folder that MIDI2BAM is installed in is not read only

look for a file called MIDI2BAM.PIF and delete it. Go into the properties of MIDI2BAM.EXE and choose full-scren again. This should re-create a new MIDI2BAM.PIF

Mine automatically goes to fullscreen. And I cannot seem to locate any "MIDI2BAM.PIF" file. Hmm...

I forgot to mention that why the program crashes it displays an error message. I cannot read the message because the letters are horrifically enlarged and "dotty," and only a very small part of the message seems to go onto the screen. I can't even read what's there.
