Reading over my previous topic entitled "'Power Child' and the story on my work with n00bs", this statement struck me:
Jjkaybomb wrote:
I know what you mean by either pure genius or childish idiocy.

I find the concept almost exactly like an anime show. Strangly unique, yet scarily obvious. I think it sounds like an amazing idea, but one hard to work on.

Of course. I began to realise the simple truth; that "creative" ideas are, in fact, abolutely childish. I began to think about my childhood superhero ideas, my action-figure concepts, my stories, TV shows, all of which would be concidered masterpieces if produced professionally and with a famous Japanese name on it (some even were).

I also recalled a book I read on Taoism, stating that a taoist appears and acts childish, and is also superbly creative and artistic.

And so I let the jury decide: could it possible be the true secret of creativity? Could it be possible that thousands of college students believe falsley?

I'll leave the choice of belief to you.

That's just scraping the surface of creativity. Although you are very correct that silliness is creative. It is also one of the easiest methods to make entertaining. Point in case "A hitchhiker's guide to the Gallaxy".

Not all creative ideas are childish. Some ideas are very serious. Taking events that never happened but certainly could have happened is very serious business. Points in case, the Armageddon and JR Tolkien's Battles.

What? Perhaps you could make some attempt to back this up.

So? Just because people think something is a "masterpiece" doesn't mean there was anything creative about it. Also it's highly unlikely that your childhood ideas would've been seen as masterpieces by anyone.

This is an extremely questionable understanding of Taoism.

What? There's nothing necessarily creative about being silly.

Its a theory, anyway.

I was really tired when I wrote this, so of course its fragmented and quite incomplete, so I apologise. I sholdn't have made the topic before explaining my theory to myself, but I was really tired, as I said.

I still do like it though. When I think of more to back it up, I'll post it. Sorry for bothering you while practically drunk.

There's a rule that says to "Think before you post". If you're half asleep/drunk/stoned out of your gourd, then obviously your brain is in "safe-mode". Sleep the stupor off, THEN post. It'll save you some time from us having to say "Egad, what a profound example of stupidity!", and it'll save us the time of having to say it.

This isn't to say your idea is a bad one, you just need to flesh it out and explain it better. Come up with some compelling arguments to support your claim, gather information, and put it together like an actual research project.

PHC is right. This IS just a continuation on the other thread. Because of that, please continue this conversation in that thread, as this thread should not exist since Story Time is not the proper forum for a thread on conceptual comprehension.

Locked.
