Hey there! As I have mentioned in my other thread over in the Game Design forum,
http://www.castleparadox.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2207 I have been playing around with writing a small simple game using Python + PyGame
I'm well situated at the moment with graphics and sound effects, but what I really need is some nice music. For testing, I inserted Ali Wood's version of Greig's "Hall of the Mountain King" from http://www.aliwood.com/ and it sounds awesome and perfect, but naturally I don't have permission to include that in my game, so I need to find some suitable original music (or at least someone else who can play the piano well enough to play Greig's "Hall of the Mountain King", which is in the public domain)
I am not adverse to giving bribes, if volunteers are not forthcoming :) |

What music format do you need it in? |

I will be putting OGG Vorbis format music in the final game, but I can convert from other formats without much trouble. Besides OGG I can work with MP3 FLAC WAV or AU
MIDI files are okay too, as I can just render them to WAV with Timidity |

I'm sure they include a midi of 'hall of the mountain king' with the windows os in the media folder. It's a rubbish rendition though so don't bother looking for it _________________

I have a MIDI version of the song, but it's kind of strange. It starts off really soft, then loud, then it starts over again.
I'd give you the URL to a page on my web site, but Geocities won't let me log in, so I'll just e-mail it to... I-Read-the-FAQ-and-I-still-have-Questions thingy.
It this song doesn't seem right, just search google. There's bound to be some guy who's made a copy of this song and is letting people download it. |

Oh, I already have several midi's of it. One of them is even decent. The problem is that I need to have permission to redistribute the midi. People often incorrectly assume that just because the song is public domain, that the midi is also. There are vast numbers of midi's out there which are labelled as public domain, or included in public domain collections, even though they are in fact copyrighted.
Anyway. I am more interested in finding a composer or a musician who can make something with similar style and mood to Hall of the Mountain King, but that doesn't neccisaraly have to *be* Hall of the Mountain King. |
