The following are recordings of what some BAMs sound like when I play on DosBox or VDMS:

http://machu.250free.com/Broaste.mp3
Broaste's Madness from Wandering Hamster
http://machu.250free.com/Catacomb.mp3
Catacomb, which comes with the engine
http://machu.250free.com/Lose.mp3
The game over song from Super Your Mom 4

Tell me, is this what BAMs are supposed to sound like, or at least, how the majority of people hear it? I don't want to go too far out of my way to compose BAMs in a different environment.

Yes. Yes it is. FM opl synth systems sound like this. If you ever used MAME to play older arcade games, they sound just like that.

Those sound very much like they do on my computer. Only people who have sound cards that support FM/OPL2 music for real will sound any different. Some slightly better, some slightly worse.

VDMS's FM/OPL2 is good, and you can expect that what you hear there is very close to what other people will hear.

Y'know, I think some Genesis games sound like this as well.

Anyways, thanks for the answers. VDMS == Good basis for testing music.
