"I tend to no longer play OHR games for fun (thats what the PS2 is for) but rather to see interesting things being done on the engines (like intersting gameplay, story, music, etc.)."
-Shadowiii, OHRadius review
A misspeak, to say the least. What I meant to convay is that many recent ohr games I have played don't tend to have a ton of gameplay that is enjoyable in it, rather most tend to begin work on something original. I still enjoy playing OHR games and I still find them fun. The point I was trying to make was that OHRadius had a lot of unique aspects and could have been funner, but since it was hindered by the OHR engine (and lack of save points), it was a bit dull to play and, hence, I'd rather boot up "R-Type Final" or something if I wanted to fully experience the side-scrolling style of games.
Not that what Fenrir has done isn't an accomplishment. It certainly is a major one. However, the OHR engine limits gameplay for this style of game to a point where I'd rather play another side-scrolling space shooter then this one in particular.
Again, I didn't mean to say I don't enjoy playing OHR games. Far from it, actually. My quote was poorly written, and I apologize for any confusion you might have had. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

I agree with ya Shadowiii. To be honest, I really don't play games unless I intend on reviewing them. And the only way this happens is if they hold my interest for a period of time. Like for Nordomin or something like that. I played it for 3 hours. Didn't enjoy it. But some of it I did. And then there were games like Crescent Dream that I trully loved. It seems I have upped my reviewing expectations. But, I agree with ya Shadowiii. It seems every game on CP is the same almost unless there is a unique engine for it. _________________ ---------------Projects----

I agree with both of you. I find too many games are too similar. You got your towns, dungeons, same battles, and, in many games, relatively similar storylines.
I must say that, if done correctly, an OHR game could be as enjoyable, or even more enjoyable, then some of the Super Nintendo games out there. OHR is capable of many things that most don't realize. I'm attempting to test OHR's limits in my Pirates game to make it as enjoyable as some of the SNES games out there. I definately think it's possible, but it requires a lot of work, which a lot of people aren't up for, unfortunately.

I've had this feeling for a while, though I won't admit that it's quite like that. I'd play the OHR rpgs to see how the games develop and how. there are very few games I have actually enjoyed made on the OHR, though there are some.
Though, I do agree that most OHR games are lacking, where the creator/s could've improved on, but hasn't made a move to do so. There are some games that are just great, not because of it's spectacular graphics or storyline or even fancy plotscripting, but they just have that extra "unf" that gives it the edge, which makes it better than professional games. _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch
