It's very good, but my first reaction when I saw it was that it he was a woman. You can still tell that he's a male, but perhaps you should make the shoulders a bit broader or something, he still seems to have a faintly feminine look to him...

Madhatter and Setu took my comments! Err... Anyway, I really really like the artwork, and ...well... *points up* what those two posts say. Ha ha ha!

His torso and arms are generally awkward, and it's not so much that his shoulders look feminine as it is that they don't seem to really exist... Either way, they need to be broader.

A long samurai katana, extravagent clothing, and a cool hair doo (assuming I used the word for hair style right) You can't go wrong with that! G'Job!

Just don't tell him that he's wearing a dress... Oookay...

heh, it's a good pic
one thing to look out for is that "sharp" chin, that's what is giving people the impression that it's feminine (or part feminine).

when i looked at it, i thought it was a girl, no offense. until i read everyone else's post. well... with the long hair, girlish fack and dress... sorry.
but yeah, be careful with the chin, expecially if it's a guy with a robe... or something similair

Some things that make things look female (disregarding the obvious things. You sickos know what I am talking about... Oookay... )

Face: Eyes a bit bigger (In anime, Manga type art)
Face is pointier at the bottom (The chin)
Smaller nose (generally)
eye lashes are more noticeable
(this is often disregarded, some guys have lashes gilrs would kill for)
Body: Shoulders are less broad
Waist is generally thin, and goes out at the pelvis
(dont even think about it)
Legs are less muscular, but they could have large calfs
(stayin in shape Big grin)
Clothing can be an indicator. If it is very frilly, or colorful
(Pink, Reds and blues mixed) Or they wear their hair really long
(and wash it...)

Well thats all I could think of, but I am sure there are more indicators. It is debatable, however... Tell me what you tink. We will all become better artists (even the ones who point out the errors need to work on their style.
(Are you kiddin? Especially myself!)

Quite definitely, Leroy. I know that my art is far from perfect. No one can really claim that their art is perfect without lying, really...

I want to thank you all for your critism (NOTE: This is not sarcastic), and I'll follow your advice and make broader shoulders, better chin next I draw a pic. On a final note, That kind of dress is wearing, was when I was trying to do kenshin's pants, and for some reason, I keep wanting to keep em connected. Ne ways thanks for all of your responses

Oh! Now that you point it out, I realize how nicely done your folds in the cloth of his *cough* dress pants. It was convincing as a robe, but it would look sweet with the kenshin Pants as well.

One of my characters in Knights of the Realm is a female ronin, but even she wears pants. I don't think many samurai actually wore skirts like that, at least, not in any Kurosawa movie I've seen, and he usually does the costumes pretty accurately.
