| It's not even innovative. Clearly the quotes style was stolen from this game. The author would rise out of his grave and smite you if such things were possible within the realm of physics. |

| Yes, it is a Rocketeer costume, haha. There's a ton of great cameos in that game that I am proud of. A lot of OHR/CP and a bunch of variety. Although it was tougher comin up with colorful female characters. And Seph, you... I will play that game all night to beat that score! |

HOLY HELL MAN! Wow... Hmmm... Maybe we could make kind of a competition to see who can keep the highest score in Scare Spree for like a week. And the winner will get to choose to have their own alias into the game, or pick anyone they desire.
Maybe if it's possible, we could add a few other sutle things to the game that we never got around to.
(Talk about a game with replay value, ha) |

We might need to move the score over a little to the left to accomodate five-digit scores, too... I was kind of dinking around when I got 4557, so it's probably possible to break 10000. Of course, the candy drops are random and it's theoretically possible to get an infinite number of points if the kids always drop candy... but the luck element is pretty much negated by the scale on which you trigger that event.
I'm looking at putting in a combo counter at the bottom of the screen that tells you your current combo level as well as a system to save your high score.
Hey, wasn't it you who beat my SCHMP score, too? I don't remember who it was, but you guys are pretty psycho about your high scores around here. Unlike SCHMP, I might have to play the released game more than once this time so as to reclaim my honor. _________________

The TwinHamster has been wrongfully accused!
He simply forgot to use his usual "Character: Text" format and thought to himself: "Ah, screw that".
However, that does not take away from the fact that such things as summoning the dead are in fact possible in certain realms of physics... |

Seems it's perfectly possible to break 10,000 in Scare Spree... I got 10250-something on my second try (the last digit gets cut off). Beat that, Seph.
Here is my strategy, copied from an e-mail to RMZ:
| Quote: | My strategy is to spam the standard scare. To do that, you have to run when you're not near kids, then walk to get next to them and scare. It helps to know that you can scare them from a few spaces away. If you are good at this, you can get very high combos. I saw Bob about three times [on my first play, that is -- on my second it was closer to ten].
The coffin scare can also be very effective, I suppose, but only if you have a lot of kids onscreen. If you get four kids at the same time, that's 4 x 25 + 45 for combos = 145 points [you'd get 85 for standard scaring the same number of kids]. It can be a good way to start a combo chain, but using it during a combo usually breaks the combo and it's also generally not worthwhile to wander around until you find a lot of kids.
All in all, combos are the key to success: if you can standard scare 10 kids in a row, that's 100 points for the scares and 270 points for the combos. By that point, you are earning more from each combo than you would be getting for scaring Bob without a combo. |
It's also worth pointing out that kids are 5% more likely to drop candy from a standard scare than from a coffin scare. I'm not sure RMZ ever listed the scoring, so here it is:
Standard scare: 10 pts, counts for combo, 25% chance to drop candy
Coffin scare: 25 pts, counts for combo, 20% chance to drop candy
Running scare: 1 pt, does not combo, does not cause candy drop
Combo: 10 points for a 2-scare combo, 15 for a 3-scare, 20 for a 4-scare, 25 for a 5-scare... (Note that these add together, so three in a row is 10 + 15)
Candy adds 5 seconds to the timer. I'm pretty sure this was mentioned in the readme. _________________

Release a version that scoots the score more to the left so I can have solid evidence, because right now all I have is this:
Did I get 10800 something? Or did my lovable foreigner clumsiness kick in again? (It's the former, but I can't PROVE it >:( )
EDIT: Holy fuck, Charlie Brown drops rocks instead of candy! I love you forever! |

| I actually made an updated score backdrop for when we update the game. I guess it's up in the air, but I made a new rank, called the "Master" score, and it goes up to 9000. All the other scores have been redone as well, like Professional is like 5000 now. However, do you guys think the Master score should be upped even more since we all know it's possible to break 10,000? |

Bahahaha! That was RMZ's idea, and it is WIN.
I was actually trying to stop just before I hit 10k so that I could take a screenshot full of 9's. I will have to try again and accomplish your defeat.
RMZ, if you would be so kind as to change the line that says "show string at(3, 280, 190)" so that it says "show string at(3, 260, 190)" and then re-release the game, our friend can then continue to gloat. If you'd rather wait for the other features, that's fine, too. _________________

Why don't you just horizontally flip the screen so that the scores appear on the left side and the dude with the mask and candy is on the right?
That way, you won't have to edit the script anymore. (In case someone hits 100k?) |

And technically.. The rock idea is not 100% my idea. It was a hilarious idea that Fenrir and I came up with.
I'd rather wait and have all the other features ready. |
