FF7 should be remade with higher difficulty, better dialogue(like FF9, forgot how good the dialogue was in that.) And better graphics.
To get back to this subject that this was meant for, FF9 has a very interesting character, Vivi. He gets thrown a very serious conflict. Sadly, he's the only character I'm caring about right now (replaying, since everyone is saying it's so awesome.) Freya, from what I can remember is interesting too.
Squall is developed actually pretty well (again, going to replay.) People were disliking him because of his attitude, but that's what made him interesting.
But sadly, maybe the best realized character for an RPG is Mario, because we played with him in many games before and thus, he didn't even have to have dialogue for us to like his game.
Let's stop the FF7 talk (I never should have brought it up.) This thread is going to get locked for us talking off subject. _________________ Calehay |

No I haven't. But I'm thinking about buying Final Fantasy Chronicles when I get some cash. Is it really good?

I didn't dislike Squall (from FF8, silly Shadow) because of his attitude, I disliked him because he was an idiot.

Reading that out of context could hurt people's feelings...(I just hit "read last post" and I haven't read this for a while, and I was like "UNCOMMON! What are you saying about SQUALL?! ")
Ok, I definatly need more sleep. Definatly.

Let me put it this way. Chrono Trigger is considered by the majority of the world as one of the best RPGs ever made in existance (yes, even the FF7 lovers agree with this). So yes, buy it. Get Anthology while you are at it, becasue FF6 rocks your boxors off (literally). _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

Squall is a pathetic rip-off of Cloud (come on, they even named both of them after kinds of weather) except they made him into a angsty whining bitch.
(no offense to the board member who carries his name, of course)

Uh, I liked Mario RPG because of the gameplay, not the characters. Mario really doesn't have much of a character at all, except we know he's a good guy and he likes Toadstool/Peach. In fact, it's likely that the reason they didn't give him any dialogue was because they didn't want to have to make up character traits for him (probably a good move actually, makes him easier to use however they want). And the game didn't really need him to talk, having him emote or just act out stuff was a good idea that made story scenes more fun.
EDIT: Personally I don't recommend playing Chrono Trigger on the PS version. Unless my copy or my playstation was just having its own problems, the game is very slow. It takes a while to open the menu or start a battle. I'd say emulating the SNES version is better. _________________ Locked

(I'm not sure how to use the quote thing) Shadowii, I had FF Anthology, but it was stolen (Actually, FF6 was stolen and ff5 was broken in a tragic moving accident.
Iblis, I was saying that he's probably the best character because our minds created an idea for him all those years back and his actions in the game could do nothing to stop those.
On squall, I still need to replay (Forgot there was a person named Squall here.) _________________ Calehay

The same thing happened with SuperStarSaga. It's probally the best GBA game you can get too. At least RPG wise anyways. Mario and Luigi didn't say anything, they pretty much made noises and waved their arms. Never a sentence of dialog though. Mario needs no words to make his character be himself. Everyone's played Mario for years and knows his intentions. _________________ ---------------Projects----

I have found myself laughing at some parts of Mario and Luigi on my second and third playings of this game. Just goes to show that words aren't neccessary for character construction. _________________ ---------------Projects----

So do I. I think steriotypical character done RIGHT are better than many of the poor attempts at originality I've seen. Examples of good characters:
Link. Loto. The Prince of Cannock. Kyle Kij-whatever.
Bad:
Seraph(He's a MAN I tell you!). Wolf(hero from my game). Squall. I know there's more, but I have writer's block.
My sinceerest apologies for being new. _________________
