A very commendable response.

The battle theme grated against the ears. It was that part at the beginning, I think, where it went BEEEEH BAH BAH BEEEEH BAH BAH. It just got...loud and grating and didn't sound pleasant.

Now, why did you design the characters to be flat?

To tell the truth, I think it was partly because I wanted the theme to focus around characters who were forced by others to do whatever they wished. I kind of blew off that part, so I don't know why I used that idea.

Again, I might start up a new game with one of my better stories.

It might be the orchestration. Did you listen to the OST? If so, did it sound bad then?

EDIT: The reason I act calm and mature to your responses is that I've had worse. My brother, who creates amazing stories has critizied me. Believe me, I've created flatter characters and nonsensical plots. It's taken a lot practice to get where I am today. And look at number 6 of the second article you gave me.

I did not, but I would think it probably has something to do with the BAM conversion (his the music comment: "...BAM doesn't look good on it.").

That's probably going to be my new signature. It's meant to be said in a random place, like when Aeris said it for no reason in FF7 after the Turks were looking for her.

Check OHR Weekly, Operation: OHR, and the old Reasonably Septaweekly/OHR Monthly issues, you'll find a lot of them.

So I guess I was not supposed to release this game. I'm sorry, I just wanted to hear from everyone what I needed to work on.

And that, my friend, is the best reason of them all.

Well, this was my first game, and I've been reading that you shouldn't release it.

No, it's just that you have to be satisfied with it first. If you believe it's representative of you and your work, it's fine to release it.

I have to work on this. After a while with a lot of my work, I become blind to it. It's something I truly have to work on as an artist. (And by artist I mean all types of art.)

Adrian, there are a lot of games out there right now that might follow structuring similar to yours. Just because his is similar to Crescent Dream's doesn't mean he directly ripped it from your game. That's almost like calling Walthros' story a rip-off of Final Fantasy IV's.

I think the reason why it is so hard to create a really original story is because of logic. Logic only goes so far. Then it starts repeating it's self. It's the way we are raised.
If there is a Princess or some other important person, we want to have someone strong protect them. It's only common sence. What makes them better is when we throw twists in. Like maybe some bad guy gets the job of being her body guard, but uses his possition to try and harm her.

But back to to topic: I think Calehay has learned his part from this. now it is some of us here who need to learn. *points to self* Guilty.

..lets compare:
CD:protector to replace a dead brother,V:protector to replace a dead father.
CD:hero hated to be compared to his brother,V:hero hated to be compared to his..yes,dead father.
CD:trained by his master to become a protector,V:trained by his master to become a protector
..all i want to point out is Calehay did not think of his story as a cliche, but he has played Crescent Dream and got some of its ideas.
..its really hard to convinve people since they are not the one who worked hard creating the game..
..oh well, since i cant convince most of you guys,i guess i should just continue working on Crescent Dream and pretend that this never happened..and i'll be puting a lot of effort now in case my game is not good enough.
