No, you're both just stupid.
The contest was quick, but playing all the games will not be, and if either of you had any brains, you'd realize that neither of your games are exactly on the top of anyone's list to play. heck, I have yet to play Red's game, but I have played Gnome's, and...well...it's my opinion it won't be winning anything. Besides, what's another week for voting? I know I want the extra time to make sure my votes go to deserving games. |

What the hell are you so pissed about? They may be incorrect in thinking it doesn't take long to judge games, but you're hardly justified in treating them like that. They did make games in 48 hours, your opinion onf them notwithstanding, and that's an accomplishment. Just back off. _________________ Locked

Ilbis, you've made no games, did not have a part in this contest, and I'm guessing did not play either Red's or Gnome's entries. You have no reason to be posting in this thread, and please, before you decide to write a post back to this, remember that I had said nothing in my post that wasn't true. So Ilbis, I'm telling you to back off. |

You tell him, CN!
Unfortunately, I will not be able to vote for this contest, as I can't put OHR on this computer, and my friend who as a computer with OHR won't be back from his vacation until after I leave on vacation...
So, sorry... |

you know what chaos nyte, I don't care what ranks I got, I would just like to know, and before you rank on my game, play it for yourself bub, before you make judgements like that, and besides, people don't just vote through this thread, they can email djfenix, so you never know how things can end up. But best of luck to you on your game as well. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Actually I have played them. And no, they weren't great. But these guys are new (I think, I at least know RMZ is). And retotrting that I haven't played these games when you've admitted to only playing one of them yourself is a pretty flimsy argument.
As you said, I've made no games (I tried the 48hour contest, but I just can't stay on the OHR long enough to make anything real in such a short time, it'd drive me crazy). However, I really don't see how that's at all relevant. I don't care how bad their games were, nothing I said had anything to do with that (Though honestly hearing the FF7 battle theme on RMZ's game makes me want to defend him a lot less).
To be perfectly honest, I was a bit too vehement in my earlier post, but I still think you were being excessively rude. _________________ Locked

Hey Iblis! I'll have you know that music that is ripped is awesome! I mean original music is good, but let's face it, that's hard, I've tried it. And besides, listening to old game music makes you think back, and it's just real cool, because ripped music can set the mood of a game a lot better than the original music people make. And I am new here, but it doesn't mean I am new to the OHR, only recently did I learn new skills on it. But anyways, I'm glad you played my game, even if it was only to make a point . Good luck to all who entered. _________________ ---------------Projects----

It's not ripped music in general (I used it for my attempt at an entry), it's just the song, or the game rather. I don't like people ripping from FF7. I don't really know why, it just bugs me. It might be because I've heard it so many times in OHR games that I get tired of it.

You know, about half of the soundtrack to Magnus XVII: Off DE Edge of Dis Pair of Edges was original, that's why it sucked so much. |

... some people are just plain ignorant when it comes to contests like these
'well if it took 24hrs to make, then it should be 'X'hrs long!'
I think somebody who made a decent game in 24hrs should get a prize
anyway. Since it takes most people weeks/months to produce a demo. _________________ ~PH

You're right Planethunter, but still, this is a contest. And with every contest there is a winner and a loser, whether I win or not, my prize is another game to my count, and to my website. So it's almost a win-win situation. Hehehehe. _________________ ---------------Projects----

OK, I'm going to do a quick mini-review of each of the 48 Hour games.
I'll do them in order from worst to best.(in my opinion, of course)
0. Fenrir-Lunaris - Rampaging Guiniea (Invalid)
Aside from the fact that the graphics were premade and the game made
no sense and offered no instruction whatsoever, it had a bug which
caused Chewie to freeze every time I tried to play it. And thus,
it ranks at #0.
13. Gnome - Lost Soap
I hate to have to say this, but this game was... horrible. I didn't
enjoy it at all, and I didn't even find it funny.
12. Blackfox - Rogue
I stopped playing after a few minutes. It simply failed to capture my
interest. Maybe it's a masterpiece in disguise, but probably not.
11. Dark Blubber - Quest for Soap
I lost interest after the setup to the plot. The graphics were nice,
but this game really offered no reason to keep me playing.
10. RedMaverickZero - Mr. Triangle's Battle Royal
Graphics were pretty good, but that's the only good thing about this
game. It was too short and there wasn't anything particularly special
about it. It also tries to appeal to 13-year olds with meaningless
swearing; automatic points off.
9. Rolling Stones - I Made Dis: VR Missions
Gilbert, I have this to say: I'm disappointed. IMD has long been one
of my favorite OHR series, but this game wasn't good. The 'find the
culprit' things were hilarious, but the battle just ruined it for me.
Elvis is supposed to be all-powerful! Don't do drugs.
8. Arque - Cops
Very interesting. The graphics actually made me laugh! Knowing Arque,
I assume he had some interesting design ideas going, but I guess time
constraints can really ruin things. This game was just too empty.
7. Sephyroth - Sephyroth's 48 Hours Game
I liked the summon system idea. It could have made this game much
better than it was; unfortunately I couldn't get it to work...
On the bright side, this game was very funny and i enjoyed it.
6. JSH and Poodles - Mix
I hate to rank my own game so high considering the bugs, but I actually
enjoyed PLAYING my game. I'm probably biased, but that's the honest
truth. It also has the best ending of all of the 48 Hour games.
5. SDHawk - The King's Basement II
Text-adventure! Yay! I actually liked it better than the first King's
Basement. Wish I could've gotten a better ending though.
4. Squall - Blow Up
This game was so bizarre that it was funny. I wish it hadn't been so
easy, but it was good for what it was. Rock on, Squall.
3. PHC - Totally... Gihern!
Harrington has been one of my favorite OHR users since the first
demo of Walthros. There are three reasons that I rate this #3:
A. The graphics are a huge shot above Walthros; they're interesting
and fun to watch.
B. The game is well-balanced and the characters say some pretty funny
stuff. I loved some of the things that Surlaw said.
C. The 'special surprise' that you get for getting an A rank is GREAT!
(Hint, hint: Get it, everyone!)
2. ChaosNyte and RetroGamer - It Came From Beyond the Moon
Well, when it's all said and done, sidescrollers have been done with
the OHR already.(And the others were much better than this game.)
There are two reasons why I rated this game #2:
A. The graphics are great. They reminded me of an old Bugs Bunny
cartoon.
B. The ending was hilarious.
1. Aethereal and MCW - OHR Arena
A great concept. Unfortunately, it has some flaws that bring it down,
but it's still the best of the 48 Hour games. I imagine that Aeth
wanted a lot of things in this that he simply didn't get to do.
As it's the only game that I REALLY want to see redone from this
contest, it's my #1 pick. (Oh, graphics were good, but not quite up
to MCW's usual skill level.)
That's what I thought. |

RedMz, Yes even though it's a contest nobody really "loses", players get to
try out new games, developers hone their skills and newbies learn a thing
or to. And of course people in this forum have something to argue about _________________ ~PH
