Just an update.

The source and .rpg file now has a SVN repository at http://fyre.castleparadox.com/svn/jade

You don't even need an SVN client to download - you can D/L directly from there. Unfortunately I think you'll have to download the 35MB uncompressed .RPG file. Unless someone is nice enough to package and .zip the repository once in a while. Actually, I should look into seeing if that can be auto-magically done.

This will be the best way to get the latest updates until the official release. Over the next few weeks, for example, i'll be taking Fenrir's suggestion and adding descriptions to the special attacks.

I'll try to update this thread with any notable updates as they come.

edit: in fact, i just updated the .rpg file to revision 3. This lets you actually quit out of the game, has MIDI tracks, and the rpg file has been unpassworded.

Alright, thanks to Inferior Minion, a nightly .zip of the game and it's scripts are now available.

http://fyre.castleparadox.com/Jade-nightly.zip

It runs at midnight Pacific Time, so now you can easily grab new versions of the game as it's being worked on.

Still, I stand by what I say. If it doesn't fall through, it could be implemented with nothing more than a series of if blocks, which would defeat the purpose of having switch.

Not neccessarily. It's still nice shorthand, especially considering we don't even have an 'elseif' statement. I'd love to see a switch statement, even if it didn't fall through.

While we're here, do you mind telling me how to save in SOJ? I only seem to be able to save after certain points of the story.

You can also save by using an inn.

Inns, story points, and certain points in dungeons. There's a certain statue in the first dungeon that will let you save, for example...

Long time no update to the SVN, but I just updated it:

- jade now runs unlumped. game starts up within 10 seconds from cold boot. as such, the data is unlumped.
- placeholder sound effects
- misc typo fixes
- added updated neo final pic and relevant scripts
- misc script updates and fixes

That's odd, I'm not getting any sound out of it.

apparently that's a bug in the version of the engine included with the game.

Yup. I think it's fixed now, but if it isn't the only way you'd be able to hear these newly uploaded sounds is to start a new game.

All music tracks that I wasn't able to obtain permission for have been removed from the SVN version of Jade. This means Jade (should be) non-infringing in any way now. I will be double checking though. I wonder whatever could this mean...

... by the way, there is nothing really stopping someone from downloading the .zip before midnight tonight, taking the .mids from jade.rpgdir, and then extracting them into the newer file if they really liked the music.
