that sounds strange 
I'm pretty sure x^0 works...
Coz one equation I use in my custom battle system goes something like this:
| Code: | | digit := (number/(10^count)),mod,10 |
where count is circulated through the values 0 to 3 in a for loop.
TMC has seen it, and he confirmed it as well..
EDIT: ugh, I did some typos here and there... need sleep
