It depends on the game, but I think that the Zelda series makes the best use of saving. In Link to the Past, whenever you save the game is reloaded either at the Pyramid of Power(In Dark World), one of three places in Light World, or the beginning of a dungeon.
Majora's Mask had a good way of saving too, since it fit the theme of the game.
OHR games benefit from being able to save anywhere, I think; most of them, anyway. PCs have a tendancy to crash for unknown reasons(at least for me), so saving constantly is a must. The strategic value of save points is important to some games, though, so in the end it is the game designer's judgement. Make a wise one. |
