Sleipnir had eight legs, and yes, I did realize that he didn't ride in a sleigh. However, Santa = Odin is not the entire equation. Santa is also a host of other mythical and histroical characters, such as St. Nicholas (as has been mentioned already), along with definite influences from pre-Christian Russian culture (the whol sliding down the chimney thing). His relation to Odin in particular is based in multiple factors. A physical similarity is obvious, but also, Odin was a one-eyed god, and many pictures of Santa portray him winking at you. Yes, that seems to be a quite tenuous connection, but almost every person who has expertise in the field of Christmas traditions (and they do exist, trust me) will agree that Santa winking is directly related to Odin's single eye. Also, both Odin and Santa are all-seeing. The one eye is related to this, as when missing one eye, most symbolic interpretations would say that your one eye is for seeing out, while the missing one allows you to see inside, this making you all-seeing. Also, Odin is the god of travellers, and Santa takes this idea in his ability to traverse the globe in one night, stopping at each house, just as Odin was said to do, leaving presents, a reference to Odin visiting and leaving "presents," so to speak, of knowlege.
There's a lot more to this, as I recall, but I'm just working off memory here. I'll get back once I've researched some more.

Glad to see this is being handled in a mature fashion. MC, for the love of all that is holy, lay off on harrassing people even if most of us don't like them. Incompetance speaks for itself as I'm sure Durandal is well aware, and has said in not so many other words. We all just need to take a step back and relax, since jumping in and defending ourselves from criticism at the drop of a hat accomplishes nothing.

Likewise, Durandal probably didn't know Eggie's art had actually improved, and he IS entitled to his opinion.
