Sometimes on certain 320x200 24-bit bmps, when I import them, Most of their color turn grey. Its not on every pictures though most of them. I've never altered the master palette within OHR and so I'm not sure what is causing this.

On another hand, I dont have any issues with the regular 16-color sprites.

I tryed saving the files with Gimp, Photoshop CS3 and mtPaint to see if maybe it had to do with the paint software I was using, but I get the issues at random with all 3.

The ohrrpgce uses a 256 color palette. If your 24-bit bmp uses colors not found in that palette, the ohr will try and match it. It tends to have problems matching saturated colors, so increasing that tends to help.

The sure-fire way is to use your paint program to reduce the 24bit image down into the ohr's 256 colors before you import.

Oh and dear OHR development team,

I love you guys. I do. But this right here is the worst feature of the ohrrpgce.

There are better graphic programs than the ohr's built-in one, so much so that it's always a royal pain having to deal with import issues. This is why increasing the palette to 24bit would help--for the sole reason of making it easy to import graphics. This is holding it back like you wouldn't believe.

Which master palette you choose makes a huge difference for this too. There are several to choose from in the import folder, some of which are better than others for converting saturated colors. (unfortunately, once you have started using a master palette, converting to a different one will mess up your other palettes)

Support for each backdrop to have their own optimized 256 color palette instead of forcing them to use the common master palette is a work-in-progress, and will be available (and hopefully easy to use) in a future version.

See 'How do I make my imported backgrounds look better?', and maybe Battles#Importing Fullscreen Battle Backdrops for more help.

I thought I told you to wait a few months Charbile!
