The portraits are great Mariel, I think that (maybe) you should make his adams apple a bit more obvious, I'm around the age he is and my adams apple really stands out (then again that might just be me) either way he looks masculine in my eyes (then again I look about as Masculine as Raiden of MGS myself so I can't talk xD)

Is that a one-pixel difference or am I missing something? His mouth looks a little long on v3.

I made it a little longer, since I was widening the rest of his face. Big grin

That's much better now, though widening the mouth probably wasn't necessary, it doesn't hurt, it just changes his expression slightly.

Those are great portraits, Mariel. The second second one keeps on getting better, too. I liked it to begin with, but if you're looking for a more masculine hero, then you're definitely on the right track.

The only color suggestions I might make are that the darker background swallows up some of the detail of the hair, which is a shame. Still, I can see the aesthetic value of either choice. Have you tried other darker background colors that might show off the hair better?

I couldn't resist showing mine. Happy They're for a NES-like RPG I'm doing. Aside from this character's portraits, though, and the music I've done for it so far, there's nothing to see. Oookay...

I've only got some for one character so far — 24 different expressions, with two extra frames per expression for an eye-blink animation that I may (or may not) add on. If I don't it's 72 total expressions for this one character! Big grin

Here's a few of 'em (linked instead of embedded, so that the synchronous blinking doesn't weird people out. xD):

The ones you guys've done are great, by the way — I particularly liked the Greek dude. Happy

Wow, those are pretty neat Kizul. 72 different expressions per character? You have greater fortitude than I.

Thanks! Happy It originally just started out as one, then I started making different variations of eyes (for eye-blink animation and all that), and all of those sorta changed how the expression looked, so I made different mouths, and then I decided to go all-out and change the eyebrows as well. :p Since I was using Character Maker 1999, it was fairly easy really. ^^

The most tedious part will be sifting through the finished 288 portraits for all of the playable characters, and the probably 20-some-odd extras for various NPCs and such. That's going to be FUN. Big grin </sarcasm>

Character Maker 1999 is a pretty easy-to-use pixel-sprite-maker-thing, though. Happy I recommend it for not just sprites, but maptiles as well (as it has an animator-thing built into it also). ^^ Unfortunately, I had to crack mine as I think its site no longer exists (or at least, I couldn't find it). >.>

I'm thinking about it. Happy Not yet sure how I'd go about implementing it, though — I'm not even up to that stage yet anyway, so I'll worry more about it when I get there. Big grin

Even if I decide not to have the blinking script in there however, the sheer amount of expressions I'm making for each character will more than make up for it! Happy

Those are high quality portraits.

Second one seems a bit off, but I can't pinpoint how.

Lucier, those are incredible. They are as good as any I've seen. The only problem I can think of is that the lack of anti-aliasing between the face, hair, and background. The transition between each of them seems harsh. But the detail is really amazing.

What game is this for?
