I'm looking for 3 judges to judge the first round of the 48 hour contest. Judging will be very simple.

Each judge will give scores to aspects of each game, and the final score will be tallied up to give a final overall score. Of course, that means the game with the highest score will be the victor. Simple? The scorecard will look like this:

Graphics: out of 5
Sound: out of 5
Story: out of 5
Gameplay: out of 5
Relavence to theme: out of 10

Thus giving a possible 30 points from each judge, and a whooping total of a possible 90 points.

Also, judges will be changing each week (given that there are any takers). So pm me if you want to be a judge (for this round or any other rounds that may take place)

Also, judges cannot participate in the round that they are judging.

From back in the original post. Sorry.

How much of the game are the judges required to play before judging? 48hr games are usually pretty short, but let's not forget that And& was a 48hr invention.

Is there any possibility of people waiting to see whether they will enter depending on the theme before they offer to judge? A lot of the people interested enough to judge, and interested enough to consider enter, will probably be the same people.

They dont have to play through the whole game, just as long as they gather enough information to fill up the scorecards.

I've no problem with that, given that nobody signs up to be a judge prior to that (still no one as of yet >>)

I told RMZ I might lend a hand on his game, but if you're short judges, then I'll do that instead. Better than forfeitting the contest, no?

If i'm short judges, i have alternatives, so i'm not too worried. I chose to do judges now because i wanted the voting to be just for the finals, but if all else fails, i could to a voting system for each round.

Keep in mind that, even though each round will honour a new victor, every game still has a chance to be outstanding in a different aspect from the victor.

After the last rounds of judging, everyone will get a chance to vote for their favourite games, and vote for specific design qualities of the game. Don't think you're game will be the best in gameplay? Then out do everyone else with the graphics. Everyone has a chance to prove their worth.

So what are the titles up for grabs? Let's take a look.

Graphics
-Overall Best Graphics
-Best Battle Graphics
-Best NPC Graphics
-Best Maptiles

Music
-Best Original Soundtrack
-Best Single Score

Design
-Best Overall Game Design
-Best Narrative
-Best Map Design
-Best Gameplay
-Best Use of Plotscripting

(and finally...)
Overall Best Game

Generally the OHR is designed to make RPGs, so the catagories would do so well to reflect that. But also, like the OHR, you can always work around to keep from making an RPG and still fulfill whatever qualities that the contest demands. But anyways, keep these catagories in mind when you're making the games.
