Well inversely if we get more people a newsletter would be a good idea and having a newsletter would keep us more united.
Let's not knock these ideas before we try them. If e do it and it sucks we can stop. _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

Well, it just wouldn't make sense with the community that we have now. There's too few people, and not enough happening to actually need a newsletter. Anything we could put in the newsletter at this point could just as easily be fit in Hamster Speak.
So, how about instead of coming up with ideas that could be used on a big community, start advertising to different RPG/Indie game communities? _________________

Heh, I don't really think that the OHR has changed much, (yet). The next release is the first version to include features actually previously impossible, and I'd consider it only halfway to a proper 32-bit upgrade of the engine.
Zetes is around? Haven't seen him in years.
I agree that it would be nicer to put that extra material in Hamsterspeak rather than a newsletter. I think Hs should include short "news" blurbs, upcoming events and things which don't get full articles. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I'd still apreciate an email with the calender code stamped on it and at least a link to hamsterspeak reminding me. _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

I know I've mentioned this before, but can't we just implement some better spam control measures? Suggestions:
- Create 'trap' form elements in the registration page that have names (like 'username') that are attractive to spam bots, but style them as not visible so human users don't see them. If any of the trap forms are filled out upon submission, cancel that registration.
- Use a more advanced CATCHPA, like kitten auth.
- Ask a topical question during registration, like, "What is the OHRRPGCE?" The user could answer as multiple choice, with one answer being "A game creation engine," and the rest being bullshit. |

I went through the horrendously under-optimized gamelist code and made some improvements. It should load much faster now. It still needs quite a bit of reworking, but these minor changes should bring noticeable improvements in page creation/load times.
As a note, the reason it took so long to load, even on fast connections, was due to extremely inefficient coding, which has become more and more of an issue as the game count increases. _________________
