Camdog, this is a great idea; it's like adding a comments section to the reviews page, which I've always hoped administrators from this site and the old Operation: OHR site would've done. Very wise move.
I would be interested in talking about "the matricx rehacked" by Byako. It's a vastly underrated game that deserves much more attention for its effective use of "smart comedy" than it got. It's a short game too--only half an hour to play, but it shows how parody games don't have to limit themselves to "newbie" design to be a parody game.
Other games worth considering:
-Death Wears a Green Tie (a noir style game that would make a great discussion on genre styles), combined with:
-The Last Job (another noir game that's better than the first mentioned, and should be compared to the first, or vice versa as the case may be)
and of course there's:
-Tremor (a survival horror game that can be found on Rinku's list)
-Bandit Revolver (a game that has to be considered with its attached promo items--like box art for example)
and
-Genesis (a game that specializes in effective NPC animation)
I think all of these games would work well in a discussion about genres and styles, which the book club should be willing to address, since genre and style play an important part in game conception. _________________ Progress Report:

Sorry guys, I thought I had posted this a few days ago, but apparently I forgot to hit submit, or some such nonsense. Anyway...
The votes are in!
Missing: 1
Thanksgiving Quest: 1
Fantasy Under a Blue Moon X: 2
(Moogle: I couldn't see what your vote was for)
So, it looks like this month selection is: Fantasy Under a Blue Moon X! Discussion will begin in 3 weeks.
Here's the updated list:
Missing
Fantasy Under a Blue Moon X V4
Crescent Dream
Thanksgiving Quest
Darkmoor Dungeon
Lolsidothaldremobine
Bliss
MLAAP: The Kevin Chronicles
Purgatory
City of Dreams
Boundless Ocean
Walthros/Walthrus
Ends of the Earth 1 & 2
Pitch Black
OHR-Date
The Matricx Rehacked
Death Wears a Green Tie
The Last Job
Tremor
Bandit Revolver
Good stuff. If we keept this up, we'll be running the bookclub for years. |

| Shoot. I haven't got time to play through that game again, but it'll be interesting to see how it holds up these days. The main thing about FUABMX is that it only uses ONE plotscript(to change hero speed at the beginning) and is still one of the best-looking OHR games there is. |

Suggestions, just thumbing through the gamelist:
(I'd add in a few joke games, but I realize a lot of you are against discussing them)
At the Risk of Manipulation
The Local Gods (haven't played it myself, looks interesting)
Magnus (to discuss WHY it's the quintessential newbie game)
Moon Pie (A lesser played, decent 'first game')
Santa's Quest
My own games:
Query Part 1: Who Am I? (My first completed 'real' game. It looks pretty horrendous, but I still pick it up every couple of years)
OHR House (Those of us who were around when it came out will have more to say, but it was a fun time to be a community member) |

Bahahaha! Apparently, I meant to fill in what I was going to vote for before I submitted my post, but I never did. The post looks really funny like that. _________________

| Three weeks from the announcement of the topic (which is a week after the discussion of the previous topic). In this case, three weeks from September 5, which is September 26, or next Tuesday. |

Just to clarify, I suggested that "The Last Job" and "Death Wears a Green Tie" be reviewed together as a comparison for the detective/film noir genre. Even though I like both games, I can't see either deserving a full month by themselves.
Of course, you guys can do what you want, but I just wanted to voice my opinion about that. _________________ Progress Report:

Well, since you're the one that nominated it, I'll change it so they're both together, and we'll leave it at that unless someone suggests otherwise.

| I think the OHR House discussion would be a great idea. I would say that was the funnest time period at CP. I actually managed to get my non-OHR using friends to get in and watch it and even vote. |

I can't think of anywhere else to put this. Well, in hopes of reviving what once was an active community event, I'm promoting Vikings of Midgard for the OHR bookclub review thread. A review would be nice too, but that may be asking for much. It's also a fairly complete game, which is rare considering OHR releases now.
Or not, seeing as it's a major release and I've been hearing good things about it from those few who've played it. |

| I tried to restart the discussion on Walthros. If you guys missed that, check out the thread again! I'd like to talk a bit more about that game before we move on to the next, but Vikings of Midgard is certainly on the list now. |

| I've heard a lot about viking, didn't get much of a chance to play more than a couple minutes thus far, but I'm definatly willing to discuss it over. |
