I could do that.
If anyone wants to suggest layout/presentation ideas, i'm not too attached to the current setup so feel free to suggest away. |

Special torrent-exclusive icons! One of the many useless features that just might make it it Fyre feels energetic. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

I really like the idea, but how often are you going to update the file and how are you going to handle updates? I've never actually created a torrent before, but wouldn't any update require everyone to download the entire set again? _________________

Everyone would have to re-download the new torrent file and the new data added but everything that existed in the previous version would still be there and would not be downloaded again. Updates should work great as long as people seeding stay up to date on what Fyre adds. |
Adding makes sense to me, but updated files doesn't. Fen releases Welcome RPG and a month later releases a text/bugfix update. Does BT do some sort of verification to determine that the Welcome.RPG (or .zip) file needs to be redownloaded or will it just grab the seemingly missing bytes (assuming the new file is now larger) and corrupt the file? _________________

I believe multi-file torrents MAY be able to adapt to new files being added or changed. Otherwise I could also issue small patch files that add the required data if I update a lot. I'll have to read some Bittorrent documentation tonight.
What I might do is files/games that update a lot (like WELCOME.RPG) won't be added at all, since it would be just easier to download them seperately. |

The tricky thing about it is the people that don't come here and the community has lost all contact with. But the thing is, their game is still up, and it almost seems that since they placed it in this library or the O:OHR library and left it there, they shouldn't mind that it is in a bittorrent version of it, though I see potential arguements with that theory, and don't really completely agree with it myself.
Of course, my school internet doesn't allow Bittorrent, so I wouldn't be able to help seed it or anything, but I think that it would be an interesting idea. _________________ Calehay |

I got like, 2 replies back from the emails I sent out. While I had a bunch of games from people that replied to this thread, it wasn't quite enough to justify a torrent. Made me sad, I was really looking forward to this.
My original and backup plan was to make a torrent of CP's gamelist, but to pull that off will probably have to wait for IM to get around to renovating CP in the first place. Also, I really don't want to put games on it without the author's explicit permission. |

I don't have BitTorrent. Still, I don't understand what this idea is for. It seems like more work than it's worth (I mean that the number of new people who will likely play Ohrrpgce games because of this is near 0, because few if any games come with the game.exe, so even if someone downloaded the game at random they'd have no idea what to do with it). _________________ Tower Defense Game |

| Rinku, i'd be suprised if you didn't have at least one program on your computer somewhere that supports Bittorrent. Even the browsers are slowly starting to come with it built in. |
