Whenever I try to compile my plotscripts (or just open hspeak), I get this message:

[16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem]
hspeak.exe
X#=0D, CS=01A7 IP=000014F2. The NTVDM CPU has encountered an unhandled exception. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

[Close] [Ignore]

Ignore just brings the message right back up, and close just closes it (duh). I have the most recent version and have tried many things. Please help.

Try unzipping it from the OHR zip again. If you used the installer, grab the Zip file from the same place, and use that.

If that doesn't fix it, let us know. James has a win32 version of hspeak kicking around somewhere, and it should work for you.

Yeah, I tried that, didn't work. But I was actually specifically looking for a Win32 version if someone knows where it is.

Really? Since the last time I rebooted windows, I have been extremely, extra cautious of spyware, and I thought a once-a-week scan would get be good enough. I'll try scanning for spyware, but so far there have been no other signs of spyware.

EDIT: Hmm, when I run that Windows version, something that appears to be a DOS box pops up and just dissapears, compatibility settings don't seem to make a difference.

Guess I should just try getting the DOS one to work then. All the stuff on the Microsoft page seem to be different problems or require a CD.

By the way, since your message I've been doing a spyware search, over half way over and not one result so far.

The windows version of HSpeak is still a console program. I.e. you run it exactly like you would the dos version.

Ah crud. Near the end of my Spybot searh 19 files came from nowhere. I purged them and then tried hspeak, no progress. I'm going to try rebooting, if that doesn't work, I really hope I don't have to reboot my computer since I just did less than a month ago...

EDIT: Didn't work. Crying

(Sorry for double-posting, just need to get your attention.)

Okay, it seems to work, but how do I compile plotscripts using hspeak itself? I'm used to just dragging the HSS file or using Hamspeak/HssEd, but I'm pretty sure I can't drag my HSS file into hspeak into DosBox. Or is there a way to make a DosBox shortcut like with VDMS?

Hmm, it seems when I try what you put or my OHR directory (with and without spaces) it says "Illegal command." Am I supposed to type like Z:\> c:\... or is there some way to change Z:\> to c:\ or d:\? And sorry for my stupidity, I usually only used DosBox when I can just drag a single file into it.
