FFH sucks. It's incredibly overrated.

Then make something better.

Anyway, before CP came along, I was forced to try to split the RPG file using winzip and send it to people via email. While some people were smart enough to figure out they needed the most recent version of Winzip to handle spanned .zip files, others were not so much blessed with as much gray matter. The stored files SHOULD still be somewhere on Crescent Dream's website somewhere, though they're not of the version you currently see on CP's website.

That said, I *COULD* upload a spanned version of FFH, but were I in your shoes I'd wait for the Soul of Chaos Expansion (Yes guys, it's official, I'm making one) before grabbing it. I'll see what I can do to help you out.

I'm assuming you have no internet at home and are using either a school computer or a work computer. The most cost effective method of getting the files is NOT floppy disks or zip disks or whatnot, but actually getting an actual internet connection. It pays for itself.

I'm testing a few options right now...hopefully it works

It worked!!!

Now to write the php page for it.

You'll need this program: http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32

It's small enough to fit on a floppy disk.

OK...Question:

For those of you needing the split version...how would you prefer getting it?

Option 1) It splits the file into multiple files which have to be merged once you bring it home. You download each file separately

Option 2) File is split and then added to a second .zip file. You download 1 file, then extract it to get the individual files which you can put on floppy disk

Option 3) Um....any other way you can think of Raspberry!

[EDIT] Thanks so much for all your responses...I've got it 3/4 done and just have to get a nice download page made. But files are now split if they are too big to fit on a floppy disk.

I think either of the two should work, just a matter of which you'd rather do.

Sorry to revive this thread, but you can use the backup program on windows to span big files across multiple floppy disks. It's slow and confusing, but it works a charm if ever winzip stops working.

Inferior Minion already set it up to where you can download HJ split files. To quote Inferior Minion:

I'm working on the actual download page....it's a little more difficult 'cause the number of files depends on the size of the original file.

However, the games are all already split...you just don't have an easy way to download them yet...

You'll need this program: http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32

Here's what you do for now:

1) Find the game you wish to download (FFH as an example)

2) Look at the url: http://www.castleparadox.com/forum/gamelist-display.php?game=37

3) Notice the game=##. CP uses a numeric index to identify each game...makes things easier on my end. The files for the games are found in at http://www.castleparadox.com/forum/gamelist/##/ (In FFH's case, the URL is http://www.castleparadox.com/forum/gamelist/37/ ).

4) You'll notice there will sometimes be numbered folders in side...those correspond to a review and store it's screenshots...then there will be files ##.zip.001, ##.zip.002, etc....FFH has 3 of them. They should all fit on their own floppy disks.

5) Once you've downloaded all the files onto separate floppy disks and bring them home...put them all in the same folder and run the hjsplit program to combine the files again. It should work.

Sorry I haven't made an easy page to grab the downloads yet.

~Inferior Minion

So all of those without the ability to download large files, be happy now.

I'm happy.

I was getting sick of using backup anyway
