Anyway, you know in Resident Evil 1,2,3 when you always get to play as the other character so that you can get something in a particular place that the other one can't reach (ex. Sherry in RE2)?

ah! You should have said this in the first place! You're talking about a cutscene mediated character swap. In that case mad cacti's is the advice you need to follow, everyone else is giving you overly complex advice
use some of these commands.
swap in hero (who)
#this places a hero from your reserve party into your active party. If the hero you want is not in your reserve party then you should use...
add hero (who)
#this adds a hero into your active party
swap out hero (who)
#this places a hero from your active party into your reserve party
lock hero (who)
#You won't need this command unless there is a part of the game where the player can freely swap heros into and out of there reserve party
unlock hero (who)
#You won't need this command unless there is a part of the game where the player can freely swap heros into and out of there reserve party
teleport to map (map, x,y)
#On of the numerous ways you can change the location of the player
Let's use that part of RE2 as an example. The cutscene starts where Sherry climbs into the ventilation shaft and crawls away.
script,changetosherry,begin
swap in hero (hero:sherry)
swap out hero (hero:Claire)
teleport to map (map:othersideofshaft,0,0)

Thanks junahu for the mini-tutorial! It was detailed, too.
I'll try all of the tips this thread gave me in my games. _________________ The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on.

And just for GUI's sake, use fadescreenout and fadescreenin so the player doesn't go into shock when the screen just *boom*s to your next character. _________________ ~Pyro
