I can do the tiles for anyone of them, but I have the most experience on Zelda style graphics since I worked on SmokeyMcGoo. And any other area I am more than willing to help with. I just need a heads up on it all.
If I did do the Zelda one, I'd prefer I did all of it, graphically. Since I don't think these parts of the game will be long since it's to teach not entertain correct?
What is the style for some of these areas like the shooter or whatever. Or is it strictly up to the graphics person to do? I need to know in case I started early. _________________ ---------------Projects----

I think the 'shooter' kind of game would be something along the lines of trailblazers and such. Though I could be wrong. _________________ ~PH

OHRadius is a shooter.
Trailblazers is a sidescroller.
Just thought I'd clear that up. |

I believe it's about time I blew the lid off of this.
Basically for the past month and a half, I've been working on an OHR RPG file with all the minimum graphics needed to create a bare-bones RPG. The idea, if I remember correctly was first devised by Chaos Nyte and Cube, as a way of eventually hosting Castle Paradox sponsored Plotscripting contests and the like, where people would be given a file with all the graphics already in it, so they could concentrate on more important things such as the gameplay and of course their scripting rather than waste precious time making the graphics look extra good. When the idea was first presented to me, I agreed wholeheartedly. It's a good idea. I just have one major problem.
It's taking far too long. I was asked NOT to use some of my own pre-made graphics, but I find that completely starting from scratch on this will take almost a year if not more, when combined with my other projects, OHRadius and TSSE, as well as other non-OHR related projects. Pretty much, I have this:
What I'm considering doing is trying to push for this to be the basis of the plotscripting tutorial files, that is combine this project and the other one mentioned to the community into one massive source file filled with graphics, so that it would not only be a premade RPG graphics compendium, but could also be used as the basis for the sidescroller, Tactical Battle Game, Shooter, and Zelda style game tutorials in one.
Let me explain another way. One person does all the art for the sidescroller. Another does all the work for the Shooter, etc. I'll grant that this will result in vastly different styles, but as is, I cannot complete this alone, in an amount of time that I'd like. I had planned for this to take only a month. Clearly I can't finish it in a year.
Again, in summary, I want to combine what I have done with this current project for two reasons...
(1) It would speed up its release.
(2) We could in reality make one large 'official Castle Paradox' tutorial RPG. |

That's exactly what I was trying to suggest for my part in the Tutorial. But just clear this up for me, did you say that we'd use your maptiles made there or would we be making our own graphics? Because I prefer to keep all my stuff in one style. _________________ ---------------Projects----

I would do the Shooter's graphics. You could do all the Zelda game's graphics. Adrian X could do all the Tactical Game's graphics. However it's worked out, each style of game should have only one artist so it has a consistent look. We don't want to see a really well done NPC walking around on a horribly drawn maptile with only two colors.
Just a further suggestion, but Setu, if you want to contribute some music to this, feel free to do so. |

That works then if AdrianX is up for it. And unless another artist volunteers we could either all work on the platformer game or flip for it. I dunno. But I plan on starting work for my part soon. And I take it that I need to have the stuff ready for the scripter to know what to program as what. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Hmmm... Talking about making a tutorial. Well, if you need someone to merely check over graphics or add some more things (brush up) for you, you can certainly ask yours truly. I love helping. Especially with graphics.
My specialty is not being annoying; it's surprising you... I'm the little guy. You'll be surprised.
Regardless, I wish you all luck. "You can do it! All night long!" _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Out of curiousity, how are we going to juggle this thing between multiple scripters? I mean, different people working on the same script is just...weird.
I'm all for a platformer. |

I'm actually more for the pixel-based zelda-type script, since I'm actually working on such a system right now. _________________ im realy ded |

I'm all for scripting, I am fully able to help out on the tactical turn-based/ATB system.
(it's the only one that i've got experience in)
I agree that the graphics should be kept consistent and that only one or two artists work on one genre (or more).
I can do some graphics, but i'm not what you'd call a "fast drawer". But whatever happens, happens... the only way i'm really gonna get any work done in graphics is if someone shoved me into a pit of crocodiles. (CN and Giz would know some of my working habits) namely, i only work best under pressure.
breaking up the script to various scriptors is very easy to distribute. but there will need to be a huge discussion about the scriptor's level of skill and amount of work each scriptor will need to do. this discussion doesn't need to be an engineering lecture, where everyone are given restrictions and are set to work (it can be, but i'm hoping that it won't). _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch
(no offense to anyone that was mentioned) |

I'm with sephy. The pixel-based zelda style engine sounds the most interesting/appealing to me. I've actually wanted to make a game like this for a while but I lack any skill in plotscripting... someone should make a poll about this. _________________ My name is...

I don't think we'll have to worry about consistency with some people. I know people who can emulate someone else's style quite well (graphically and plot scriptically).
And as far as Plot scripting goes, it's the same language, so style is fairly easy to emulate. There you have consistency.
